SAN BERNARDINO SHERIFF'S DEPUTY INVOLVED SHOOTING WHILE SERVING WARRANT

eputies assigned to the Fontana Sheriff’s Station investigated a robbery call at a residence on Ceres Avenue. The victim reported that the suspect, Juan Bermudez, confronted him about being involved in the murder of Bermudez’ cousin last year. The victim stated Bermudez pointed a handgun at him and then stole his iPhone before fleeing. Based on this information, deputies obtained an arrest warrant for Bermudez. On Wednesday, March 20, 2019, at 11:39 a.m. the Specialized Enforcement Division (SED) went to Bermudez’ home on Ceres Avenue with search and arrest warrants. While preparing to enter and serve the warrants, SED members saw Bermudez and another male enter an RV on the property. SED members contacted Bermudez and the other man inside the RV and gave commands for both men to stop and comply; when a deputy involved shooting occurred. The other man was detained and later released. During the search, a handgun and narcotics were located. Bermudez was injured in the shooting and was transported to a local hospital for treatment. He

A certified public accountant pleaded guilty today to a federal wire fraud charge for running a Ponzi scheme that defrauded her victims, many of whom were clients of her accounting firm, out of tens of millions of dollars over a span of two decades. Carol Ann Pedersen, 66, of Long Beach, entered her

plea before United States District Judge Dolly M. Gee, who scheduled a July 10 sentencing hearing, where Pedersen will face a statutory maximum sentence of 20 years in federal prison. According to her plea

The Coachella Valley Violent Crime Gang Task Force served a search warrant in the 15000 block of Avenida Atezada in the unincorporated area of Desert Hot Springs. The search warrant stemmed from an assault with a deadly weapon that occurred on March 10, 2019 in the unincorporated area of Palm Springs. During the incident, two victims were fired upon while driving. During the

service of the search warrant task force officers arrested Angel Ovalle Favares, 25 of Desert Hot Springs for two counts of assault with a deadly weapon (Firearm). Favares is a documented criminal street gang member. Task force officers seized two AR-15 assault rifles, a 20-gauge rifle, and a stolen sawed-off shotgun during the service of the search warrant. Favares was booked at the Indio Jail.
