Rosemead High School Track Coach Arrested for Alleged Sex with a Minor
L
os Angeles County Sheriff’s Department Special Victims Bureau arrested Fidel Camarena Dominguez at Rosemead High School for Unlawful Sexual Intercourse with a Minor and Oral Copulation of a Minor. On February 22, 2019, an eighteen year old female reported she was engaged in a three year, on-and-off sexual relationship with her track coach while she was attending Rosemead High School, beginning in March 2015. The track coach established a close bond with the victim. He would pick her up on weekends and drive her to his home on the 400 block Sandia Avenue in La Puente, where they would have sex. Detectives from the Los Angeles County Sheriff’s Department Special Victims Bureau are handling the investigation. Suspect Fidel Camarena Dominguez, male Hispanic 37 years old, is currently being held in lieu of $400,000.00 bail, with a next court date of March 5, 2019, at Pomona Court. On March 04, 2019, the Pomona District Attorney’s Office filed twelve felony counts against the suspect: (6) Lewd acts on a child 14 or 15yrs old, 288 (c)(1) PC; (3) Oral Copulation with a minor, 288a(b)(2) PC; (2) Dissuading a victim from testifying, 136.1(b)(2) PC; and (1) Unlawful sexual intercourse with a minor, 261.5(c) PC. The Special Victims Bureau believes there may be additional victims in this case. Anyone with
Senator Anthony J. Portantino (D–La Cañada Flintridge) has introduced SB 568 to address the problem of homelessness amongst college students. SB 568 would establish the CollegeFocused Rapid Rehousing Program, which seeks to provide housing options for homeless students. It would also provide services to support homeless students as they transition into stable housing. Currently, California is having a crisis in homelessness among its college students. According to a 2018 report by the Los Angeles Community College District, a full 1 in 5 student has experienced an episode of homelessness within the last 12 months. A study of California State University (CSU) students found that 11% of students reported being homeless one or more times in the last year. “Obtaining a college education can be challenging under the best of circumstances. LA COUNTY EMPLOYEE SENTENCED FOR DISTRIBUTING CHILD PORNOGRAPHY ONLINE A 55-year-old man was sentenced and ordered to register for life as a sex offender for possessing and distributing child pornography online, the Los Angeles County District Attorney’s Office announced. Carlos Enrique Castillo of Los Angeles received a two-year suspended state prison term and was placed on five years of formal felony probation. Los Angeles County
Superior Court Judge Dorothy B. Reyes also ordered Castillo to attend 52 weeks of sex offender counseling, to be subject to search and seizure conditions including electronic devices and data and to forfeit five devices that were seized pursuant to a search warrant.
