LONG BEACH SYMPHONY TO PLAY FEEL-GOOD HOLIDAY CLASSICS On Saturday, December 22 at 8:00 PM, Long Beach Symphony will be joined in revelry by Long Beach Camerata Singers and Long Beach Youth Chorus for a joyful holiday concert in the Pacific Ballroom of the Long Beach Arena (300 E. Ocean Blvd.). Maestro Eckart Preu, Music Director of the Long Beach Symphony will kick off the fun at 8:00 PM with an orchestral medley of favorites by Leroy Anderson, composer of the jaunty Sleighride tune.

Highlights of the first half of the program include selections from Tchaikovsky’s Nutcracker Suite, two songs from the movie Home Alone with Youth Chorus and The Night Before Christmas, narrated by local actor and voice artist Jamieson Price. The concert will also feature Handel’s iconic Hallelujah Chorus delivered full throttle by the Camerata Singers. After intermission,

RIVERSIDE TO BRING HOMELESS FAMILIES ‘HOME FOR THE HOLIDAYS’ Individuals and families who have struggled with homelessness will be going “Home for the Holidays” as they move into four new, 600-square-foot homes built on The Grove Community Church’s property through a partnership Mayor Rusty Bailey forged between the church, Tilden-Coil Constructors, Inc. and the City of Riverside. The homes will provide transitional housing for homeless individuals and

families who are trying to work their way out of homelessness. Program participants will have access to a variety of services designed to aid in their journey to self-sufficiency, including job training and placement, child care, life skills and financial planning. The Grove Village is believed to be the first project of its kind in the region, and is the next step in reducing the

Duarte Voters Elect Diaz, Bell and Carroll to School Board Three seats on the Board of Education for the Duarte Unified School District were on the November 6 General Election ballot. Based on the official certified results announced by the Los Angeles County Registrar Recorder/ County Clerk, voters issued a mandate to return incumbents Reyna Diaz and Ken Bell to their positions for another four-year term, and elected new member, Ceci Escarcega Carroll, to complete the two-year unexpired term ending December of 2020. The final canvass of

the vote was completed officially on November 30. Once all the ballots had been counted, Diaz (29.08%) and Bell (25.86%) had captured a collective 54.94% of the vote to surpass the other three candidates vying for the two four-year term seats: Miriam Perez (21.41%), Jody Schultz (18.25%) and Cristobal NahuiOrtega (5.41%). The two candidate race for the special election unexpired two-year term between Carroll and Irene Murray, was won by
