San Gabriel Valley Airport’s Air Fair This Weekend This year, the airport honors those with special needs
I
t’s that time of year when our local airport holds the annual open house and Air Fair. This year, it will be held on Saturday and Sunday (Oct. 27 – 28) from 9 a.m. to 3 p.m. Gabe Lopez, son of 1st Lt. Edward J. Lopez, a WWII & Korean-War Fighter Pilot, is president of the San Gabriel Valley Airport Association. Lopez is also the chairman of the Air Fair Committee that puts on this amazing show each year. At 95 years of age, Ed Lopez still enjoys meeting people and signing his book depicting his years as a fighter pilot in the Korean war. This year, Lopez says the Airport is teaming up with Mission Flight, who will give five special needs children an inspirational first flight. From 9 a.m. – 3 p.m., at the San Gabriel Valley Airport in El Monte, you’ll get a rare chance to see vintage aircrafts and learn more about this tiny jewel airport right in your own backyard. Coachella Conman Convicted to Murder Suspect Commits Suicide Decade In Prison in San Bernardino County
A La Quinta man with a criminal history going back nearly five decades has been sentenced to 120 months in federal prison for masterminding a series of fraud schemes that cost victims nearly $2 million. Jerome Arthur Whittington, 68, received the 10-year sentence late Monday from United States District Judge Jesus G. Bernal, who said the defendant had “ruined the lives
of some of the victims.” Whittington was sentenced after pleading guilty in May 2016 to 33 counts of conspiracy, wire fraud and passport fraud. Whittington orchestrated a series of fraud schemes in which he posed as various figures, including a former federal prosecutor, a successful attorney, a special agent

On October 13, 2018, at about 9:00 p.m., deputies from the Hesperia Sheriff’s Station received a 911 call regarding a shooting. When deputies arrived on scene, they located victim Travon Holiday deceased outside of an apartment, and he appeared to have been shot. A second victim, Anthony Gossett, was found by deputies behind the apartment building suffering from gunshot injuries.
Gossett was transported by ground ambulance to a local hospital and then transported by air ambulance to Arrowhead Regional Medical Center. Lifesaving measures were taken by medical personnel but were unsuccessful, and Gossett was pronounced dead at the hospital. Detectives from the Sheriff’s Department
