esiderio Neighborhood Park: if you hadn’t heard the name prior to last week, I’m sure you have now. The 5.1-acre space, located underneath the Colorado Street Bridge on the former site of the Army

Reserve Center, has been the subject of tremendous controversy – controversy that began with a proposed restroom facility and has now grown into a much larger question of public safety. Fair Oaks Ave.) will host a Community Reception for 2019 Tournament of Roses President Gerald Freeny on Sept. 9 from 3 to 5 p.m. Freeny said, “I am humbled and honored to serve the Tournament of Roses and the community which I love dearly. My 30 years of service, I hope, will be measured by my love for my

community – volunteerism is a life-changing experience and is worth more than Gold. In a recent poll of its members, the Pasadena Chamber of Commerce asked if members support the local sales tax increase placed on

the November ballot by the Pasadena City Council. A resounding 77.91 percent of respondents oppose the sales tax increase. A little over 22.09 percent supported the ¾ cent increase in the local sales tax. SEE TAX INCREASE PAGE 10
