Los Angeles Strike Force Targets Drug Trafficking Organizations
C
apping a three-year investigation by the Los Angeles Strike Force, authorities this morning arrested 20 defendants named in a series of indictments that allege the smuggling of large quantities of narcotics from Mexico on behalf of the Sinaloa Cartel. Those arrested this morning are among 57 defendants named in three indictments that were unsealed this morning. Two of the defendants were already in state custody and are being turned over today to federal authorities. The remaining 35 defendants are currently fugitives, with most of those believed to be in Mexico at this time. The investigation – dubbed Operation Narconetas – targeted three drug trafficking organizations that allegedly transported bulk quantities of cocaine, methamphetamine and heroin from Mexico to the Los Angeles metropolitan area and other locations

Anaheim Remembers Former City Commissioner Donald Yvaska, a former Anaheim commissioner and active community member, was remembered in a life celebration on Sunday. Yvaska died on Aug. 4 after complications from surgery. He was 66. A celebration of Yvaska’s
life was held on Sunday at 3 p.m. at Moma Cozza’s Italian Restaurant. Mamma Cozza’s is 2170 W. Ball Road just west of Brookhurst Street. Yvaska served as a city commissioner from 1997 to 2013, first on the Anaheim Redevelopment & Housing
Commission and later on the Housing & Community Development Commission. He also was an active community member, serving as president of the Anaheim Shores Homeowners Asso-

Long Beach Fleet Advances Four Ranks The City of Long Beach Fleet ranked number six out of thousands of fleet operations in the nation in the “Government Fleet” magazine and American Public Works Association(APWA) 2018 Leading Fleets competition.

Riverside Metropolitan Museum Receives Highest National Recognition The Riverside Metropolitan Museum (RMM) has again achieved accreditation by the American Alliance of Museums (AAM), the highest national recognition afforded the nation’s museums.
Accreditation signifies excellence to the museum community, to governments, funders, outside agencies, and to the museum-going public. The Riverside Metropolitan Museum was initially accredited in 1972,
