WEST COVINA AND EDGEWOOD HIGH SCHOOLS PARTICIPATE IN ACTIVE SHOOTER TRAININGS
T
he West Covina police and fire departments partnered with West Covina and Edgewood high schools to conduct safety drills regarding intruders on school campuses. During both drills, there were various mock shootings and scenarios with student and staff volunteers taking the roles of victims and hostages. “It’s important for us to conduct these simulations,” said Charles Hinman, superintendent at the West Covina Unified School District. “These situations are happening too often at many schools across the country. This project helps local police and fire departments work with our schools to help prepare for any critical situation.” The West Covina Police Department officers displayed real weapons and utilized simulation paint marker rounds during the drills. After each simulation, officers provided feedback to students, staff and their own colleagues on steps they can take to improve their strategies. “The City of West Covina and the West Covina Police Department are fortunate to have a very strong working relationship with the West Covina Unified School District, and I thank the school district for accommodating this valuable training,” said Marc Taylor, police chief at the West Covina Police Department. “The safety of the students

ANAHEIM PD RELEASE IDENTITY OF SUSPECT ARRESTED IN DOMESTIC VIOLENCE MURDER Anaheim Police homicide detectives have identified Mark Lawrence Jennings, a 46 year old Anaheim resident, as the suspect arrested for killing his girlfriend early Wednesday morning. Around 7:30 am, Wednesday morning, Anaheim Police responded to a call from Jennings stating he thought he had killed his girlfriend. Officers found Jennings

SHERIFF’S DEPUTY CHARGED WITH FALSIFYING RECORDS FROM RIVERSIDE HOME A Los Angeles County sheriff’s deputy pleaded not guilty to misleading supervisors on work hours and falsifying patrol records, the Los Angeles County District Attorney’s Office announced. Matt Kochaon (dob 4/30/64) has been charged with seven felony counts in case KA118432: one count of grand theft and six counts of removing, destroying, or
falsifying a public record while an official custodian of records. Prosecutors said at the time of the alleged crimes, Kochaon was assigned to the Los Angeles County Sheriff’s Department Parks Bureau, Southern Region.
