n June 13, 2018 at 9:26 am, the Glendale Police Department AB109 Task Force and the Los Angeles County Probation Armed Unit, conducted a probation compliance check in the 1300 block of Blossom Street in the City of Glendale. The team was conducting a compliance check involving two brothers, 24 year old Vahe Harutyunyan and 22 year old Garik Aroutiounian. The brothers are on active probation with search and seizure conditions. Upon arrival at the residence, the team contacted Vahe and his father, Norik Harutyunyan, as well as two additional family members. A search of the residence revealed an elaborate illegal marijuana grow in a converted room. In addition, team members located a .22 caliber assault style rifle, a .50 caliber handgun, a loaded .32 caliber Beretta handgun, scales and several boxes of ammunition. Fourth of July is a great time to honor our country and celebrate with family. Unfortunately, some use the holiday as an excuse for weeks of illegal fireworks use before, during and after the holiday. We urge everyone in Anaheim to “Save it for the Fourth.” Fireworks are only allowed in the city on July 4 with fines up to $3,000 for illegal use any other time. And remember, only Safe and Sane fireworks — fountains and others that don’t leave the ground — are allowed in central and west Anaheim on July 4. No fireworks of any kind are allowed in east Anaheim because of wildfire danger. We are hearing from residents about illegal fireworks use and how hard it is on pets, veterans, seniors and others. We urge everyone to be considerate of those sensitive to fireworks and your neighbors. Anaheim Police, Fire & Rescue and Code Enforcement teams are on alert for illegal fireworks use. For enforcement to be effective, we need to catch someone in the act, which can be difficult given the sporadic nature of fireworks use. We can use your help. Residents can report illegal
