GLENDALE POLICE OFFICER ARRESTED ON FEDERAL CHARGES
Charged with lying to FBI agents investigating his ties to organized crime

gents and officers associated with an FBI-led task force late this afternoon arrested a Glendale Police officer on federal charges of making false statements during interviews with investigators who were probing his connections to the Mexican Mafia and Armenian organized crime. Detective John Saro Balian, 45, of Seal Beach, was taken into custody without
incident at his residence. Balian, who is charged in a criminal complaint with making false statements to investigators during an interview last year, is expected to make his initial appearance Wednesday afternoon in United States District Court in Los Angeles. According to the

Anaheim City Employees, Family Give Back In Inaugural Day Of Community Service More than 200 Anaheim city employees and their families came together on Saturday, May 12, for a day of volunteer community service benefiting seniors, veterans, students, neighborhoods and those in need. FELON ARRESTED FOR VEHICLE THEFT by Riverside gang task force Members of the Region 7 Regional Gang Task Force conducted a traffic enforcement stop near Granite Hill Drive and Pyrite Avenue in Jurupa Valley. Task force officers contacted the driver, identified as 25-yearold Colton resident Jensine Silva. Further investigation revealed the vehicle was previously reported stolen in the City of Ontario. Silva was also identified as being an associate to a criminal street gang. During the investi-
gation, another motorist who was following Silva in a separate vehicle was contacted. It was determined the motorist was driving a vehicle that was previously reported stolen in City of Pomona. The motorist was identified as 24-Year-old Ontario resident Juan Francisco Arteaga.

City of Long Beach Wins Four American Planning Association Awards The City of Long Beach has been selected to receive four prestigious awards by the Los Angeles section of the American Planning Association (APA). The annual awards, to be presented on June 7, 2018, recognize and celebrate many of the most noteworthy planning projects, plans, and programs in the Los Angeles region. “The broad span of these award-winning initiatives and projects demonstrate the
City’s innovative development efforts aimed at providing a more livable and sustainable community,” said Mayor Robert Garcia. “We’re proud to have several City departments recognized among some of the most notable planning efforts in Southern California.”

SAN BERNARDINO MAN ARRESTED FOR POSSESSION OF CHILD PORNOGRAPHY Investigators from the Specialized Investigations Division, Crimes Against Children Detail, began an investigation into a cyber tip that was reported by Google. The cyber tip contained images and videos of child pornography. Investigators determined the account belonged to Juan Beltran. Last week, detectives and deputies contacted Beltran inside a business,
located in the 16000 block of Main St. in the city of Hesperia. Investigators determined Beltran used large, colorful hair bows to exploit minors. At the conclusion of their investigation, Beltran was arrested. Beltran was booked into the High Desert Detention Center for posses-
