Developer Jeff Lee Says There Is ‘Discrimination’ in Arcadia BY TERRY MILLER As is always the case during an election, some objectionable mudslinging finds its way, especially via social media and through the good ol’ U.S. mail. Recently the Chinese chat group ‘WeChat’ has targeted candidate April Verlato. The anonymous posters’ attempts to discredit the candidate claiming she was a ‘bully’ were later quelled when another
comment feared a libel lawsuit. Meanwhile Verlato said she has no plans to file a suit but needless to say was disturbed by some of the allegations therein. An out-of-town group known as California Homeowners Association out of Willows, California is encouraging people to vote for Bob Harbicht, saying he will bring “Government transparency.”

Mayor Gary Kovacic honored the students at the Council Meeting with certificates of commendation. Arcadia has been competing in the Constitution Chal-
lenge since 1988, according to Mayor Kovacic. They have placed in the top four in the State finals every year, gone to Nationals six times and won in 1993 and 2010. The Mayor mentors the team along with Kevin Fox, Miriam Lopez, Mark Hong, Carl Nielsen and Bob Garrett. The Arcadia team was
