7-Year-Old Girl’s Birthday Wish: ‘Help the Homeless’

During the holiday season, Temple Station participated in Operation Warmth, a project gathering warm coats with the intention of providing warmth to the homeless population of Los Angeles County. Temple City resident Kayla (7-years-old) and her family heard of the project. Kayla and her family have been advocating for the homeless by providing food and assistance to those they

saw in need. Kayla had a wish for homelessness to end and after seeing a homeless person in the cold, wanted to, at a minimum, provide the warmth of a blanket. Kayla said she did not want gifts for her birthday, instead she asked for blankets for the homeless. Testing Irregularities Found at Sierra Madre Elementary What Is Going on at PUSD? BY TERRY MILLER In 2011, Roosevelt Elementary School in Pasadena had its federal Blue Ribbon nomination rescinded due to an administrative test-taking error that was reported in October of 2011. District officials called it “an honest mistake,” back then.

However, after an exhaustive effort to get the truth , local Attorney Dale Gronemeier filed public records request(s) from PUSD and additionally sent a letter to Superintendent McDonald regarding Roosevelt and the ongoing publicity at Madison regarding the teacher exodus as a direct result of an alleged bully of a principal who was

appointed. In both cases, materials requested from Gronemeier have either mysteriously been lost or found not to be relevant, according to records this paper has read. Now, attention is turning to Sierra Madre Elementary School which is under public scrutiny regarding the test irSEE PAGE 12

Sierra Madre Weekly learned last week that the Los Angeles County Sheriff’s Department will be entering into a contract with the City of Sierra Madre for temporary deputy patrol services between Feb. 28 and June 30. The news came swiftly after Arcadia's City Council last week turned down Sierra Madre’s request for assistance. Deputies will patrol the foothill city streets between 6 p.m. and 6 a.m. According to numerous sources, the 12-hour shift contract approved by the Sheriff’s Department is under review by Sierra Madre’s city attorney, and will probably be on the next Sierra Madre council meeting agenda for Feb. 23. Just in time for the service to begin that following Sunday, Feb. 28. A phone call to the Sheriff’s Department’s Contracts Law Services confirmed that a contract has been drawn up and executed and is now under review with Sierra Madre’s city attorney. Lieutenant Squire told Sierra Madre Weekly that a contract has been drawn and is under consideration and as far as he knows, is in the hands of city SEE PAGE 13

TCHS Receives Caring Gifts for Students
