The Perfect Storm Is Here: El Niño Has Arrived … It Is Official BY TERRY MILLER A series of storms which started early Monday morning (Jan. 4) have brought welcome rainfall

across California and other portions of the southwestern United States this week. The track of these storms is fueled by El Niño in the tropical Pacific Ocean.

Man Shot While in His Car

A 24-year-old man was shot in the upper chest while sitting in a parked vehicle in his driveway Sunday night, LASD officials said. The shooting occurred at 11:25 p.m. in the 2300 block of California Avenue which is in the unincorporated county area near Monrovia. Sgt. Julie Geary of the sheriff’s Temple Station said it appears two men walked up to the car and shot one

time. She described the victim’s injuries as “non-life threatening.” Geary said the man was in stable condition at a hospital Sunday. She didn’t know his current condition. Investigators don’t know yet the motive behind the shooting. The suspects fled the scene after the shooting. There were no suspect descriptions available.
