Development Plan Focused on Gold Line Stations Gets Azusa Council's Approval BY JOE TAGLIERI A plan to revitalize Azusa's downtown and areas around the soon-to-be active Gold Line train stations received unanimous City Council approval Monday. Stemming from a $650,000 grant in 2013 from the Metropolitan Transportation Authority, city officials and a team of consultants conducted a wide-ranging study of development issues in the
city's commercial hub. The general boundaries for the new "transitoriented plan" are "9th Street to the north, Angeleno Avenue to the west, 5th and 6th streets to the south, and Citrus Avenue to the east," according to a city staff report. World War I – known at the time as “The Great War” - officially ended when the Treaty of Versailles was signed on June 28, 1919, in the Palace of Versailles, France. However, fighting ceased seven months earlier when an armistice, or temporary cessation of hostilities, between the Allied nations and Germany went into effect on the eleventh hour of the eleventh day of the eleventh month. For that reason, Nov, 11, 1918, is generally regarded as the end of “the war to end all wars.” In November 1919, President Wilson proclaimed Nov. 11 as the first commemoration of Armistice Day with the following words: "To us in America

Board Honors All-Star National Little League Champs The Temple City Unified School District’s Board of Education honored the Temple City National Little League 9 and 10 Year Old All-Star Team on Oct. 28, 2015. This team won the District Tournament, giving them the title of District 18, 9 and 10 year old All-Star Champions and the Section Tournament in Glendora for the title of Section 3 9 and 10 year old
All-Star Champions. From there the team went to the State Subsection 3 Tournament in Long Beach. They lost two games in the tournament which marked the end of an historic run for the league. The league, which celebrated its 60 anniversary last year, has only advanced to the State tournament one other time in 1980. SEE PG. 19
