Arcadia to deliberate Implementation of Phase 1 of prohibited water use at August 5 meeting Arcadia Public Works Director, Tom Tait, say that as a result of the State Water Board’s recent adoption of an Emergency Regulation for statewide urban water conservation, “the City of Arcadia will recommend at the August 5 City Council meeting the implementation of Phase 1 Prohibited Water Uses of the City’s Water Conservation Plan. These Phase I mandatory prohibitions will comply with the State’s use prohibitions, and are specific to Arcadia.” Many of the current voluntary conservation methods residents are already practicing are contained in Phase I, such as refraining from hosing off sidewalks, and adjusting watering schedules to prevent evaporation of water from landscaping. To date, water usage by Arcadia water customers has been comparable to usage last year. Although, the 20 percent water conservation goal issued in Please see page 12

Former Rosemead Mayor gets almost 2 years in prison
Former Rosemead Mayor, John Tran, was sentenced on Monday to 21 months in federal prison for instructing a developer to lie to a grand jury about a meeting that involved cash, and for lying to the FBI.
