Monrovia City, Residents Cope with Power Loss Following Windstorm

While much of the Monrovia remained without power Thursday night, there is optimism that Public buildings and facilities will be up and running by Friday morning, however schools, Canyon Park and all wilderness access will remain closed. High winds that swept across Monrovia and Southern California on Thursday resulted in a Local and County State of Emergency due to the damage, including fallen trees, downed power lines and the closure of some public facilities.
A colossal windstorm with hurricane-force winds raced through the San Gabriel Valley early Thursday, damaging buildings, downing trees and knocking out power to thousands across the San Gabriel Valley. “I’ve never seen anything like this before.” said one long time Temple City resident, Diane Johnson. Her house on Primrose suffered the aftermatch of a giant eucaliptus tree which fell and landed on her’s and her neighbor’s roof and then on her three cars in the driveway. Temple city officials speculated that the tree was city property and that the residents would be covered
