New READ Poster Features Arcadia Rose Queen Natalie Innocenzi

O

ver the last several years, the Arcadia Library has created a series of READ™ posters patterned after the enormously successful American Library Association READ™ posters, that feature celebrities reading their favorite book. These posters are designed to encourage children to read, while celebrating the city of Arcadia and Arcadians. We’re pleased to say that our very own photographer, Terry Miller, has shot all of the READ posters in recentyears for the city of Arcadia’s Library.

Alex’s Lemonade Stand Foundation To Visit Temple City In an effort to join the battle against childhood cancer, local Temple City residents and the San Gab riel Valley Noblettes, will host an Alex’s Lemonade Stand on Saturday, September 25, 2010 from 10am to Noon at 6229 North Encinita Ave, Temple City. Members of the community were inspired to get involved with Alex’s Lemonade Stand Foundation after seeing a local news story about Alex’s Lemonade Stand and Strawberry Shortcake. After finding out how easy it was to get involved, organizers decided to hold a lemonade stand of their own. The San Gabriel Valley Noblettes is a women’s group that supports the slogan “To Serve A Child.” They are a small but dedicated group and work hard to support children’s charities and organizations. The object of this club is to do charitable work to serve a child as directed by the club. The group was founded or organized in February, 1952. Today we have approximately 36 members. Originally, this women’s group came together because husbands, fathers, sons, or brothers were masons or members of the Mystic Shrine but today are more open to members and if you believe in helping children support their slogan and motto, which is friendliness, you will be considered and welcomed into the Noblettes. High school children are encoraged to get involved. A l e x’s L e m o n a d e Stand Foundation (ALSF) emerged from the front yard lemonade stand of cancer patient Alexandra “Alex” Scott (1996-2004).
