Judy Wong’s Temple City Residents Donate School Supplies Last Moments Sentencing For Emperor and Cleminson Schools In Australia Delayed, Again I think we can all say BY CHRISITNE NOWAK

Embattled former Temple City former Mayor Judy Wong, received another temporary pardon last Tuesday. Her sentencing was delayed until Sept. 10. Los Angeles County Superior Court Judge Patricia Schnegg agreed to postpone the sentencing to allow Wong to find a caretaker for her ill mother.. Beacon Media and other news agencies were not allowed to bring cameras into the court last Tuesday. “Friday, Sept. 10th. That will be your sentencing day, prepare” Judge Schnegg said. This is the second time Wong’s sentencing has been postponed. Another judge agreed to delay the sentencing on July 22 when Schnegg was unavailable to preside over the case due to court conflicts. Wong pleaded no

contest in May to 10 felony counts of bribery, solicitation of bribery and perjury involving local developer Randy Wang.Wong faces 16 months in prison. W hen t he Temple Cirty Tribune last spoke with Judy Wong outside the courthouse in Los Angeles, she said she was calm and prepared. Her family has been beside her throughout the duration of the case and has helped her cope with the legal battles.

I Love School Supply Raises Funds for Back to School Necessities The City of Temple City Department of Parks & Recreation requested donations from the community to support the “I Love School Supply Drive” this summer. Students’ grades first through sixth will kick

off the school year with NEW backpacks, paper, crayons, pencils and other essential school items from donations received for the I Love School Supply Drive. Over 125 backpacks as well as notebooks, paper, pens, pencils, erasers and other

supplies were collected. Emperor School principal, Kathy Perini and Dr. Lillian Prince, principal of Cleminson School accepted backpacks filled with supplies, classroom dictionaries and lunch totes. The City of Temple

City appreciates all donations received from the community and extends a special thank you to the Amida Society of Temple City for their contribution of $1,500 to purchase backpacks and binders.

Pasadena Jazz Festival Cools off Hundreds of Music Lovers at the Arboretum

Red White and Bluezz inaugural Jazz festival filled the Los Angeles County Arboretum Saturday and Sunday with somre of the top names in Jazz. The Pasadena Jazz Festival was host to Kevin Eubanks ( foirmely of the Tonight Show Band), Take 6, Syro Gyra and Everlast among other notables. Co producer and musician, Brron Miller, helped Pasadena Entertainment coordinate the festival this year.

we got something from Australia. Whether it be a bunch of souvenirs, a new wardrobe, or a new craving for vegemite. But I believe the most important thing that we made and got from this trip is friendship, and the bonds we have made with our host families and new friends. Walking into our new homes, us all being nervous, we are welcomed with opened arms and a new spot in their family. I was very fortunate to stay with the beautiful Smyth family. The moment I put my luggage down, they worked at making me feel at home. With each day our comfort levels improved. We went from being nervous, always asking permission for a drink, to rummaging through the fridge to see if there is anything good to eat or drink. And in return our families adjusted to us as well. We start showing each other our real selves, our true personalit ies, and t hey showed us theirs. That’s when we start becoming a real family. I, along with Kasey Sickles were fortunate to have celebrated our Sweet “16” with a birthday bash given by Smyth’s and Robb’s. The only problem was as soon as we started to become a family it was time to go to our new host family. For most of us it was a teary goodbye , but we also looked forward to being with our next family. For me, it meant reuniting with my Aussie Brother, Charlton and his family. Walking into the next home, our nerves in hand, we are again welcomed with open arms and another spot with another family. Like before we adjusted well and embraced the love. These families shared their favorite spots, their favorite foods and even fa-
