WEEK Beloved LaTHIS Rosa Principal Passes Away The Temple City Unified School District staff and community are grieving the tragic loss of beloved Principal, Tiffany Haeberlein. Tiffany unexpectedly passed away on June 9, 2010, due to complications from a pulmonary embolism. Tiffany was 36 years old. Her death creates an immense void in the lives of all with whom she interacted. Her love for her family, friends, and coworkers was reflected in the manner in which she embraced her personal relationships and professional commitments. Tiffany was a dedicated and enthusiastic Principal, Assistant Principal, and Teacher. She proudly led La Rosa Elementary School to receive a 2010 California Distinguished School Award. Before becoming Principal at La Rosa, she was an Assistant Principal at La Rosa and Longden Elementary Schools. Tiffany began her

teaching career at La Rosa Elementary School in 1996. Bereavement counselors, teachers, and other support staff have been and will continue to be available to students, staff, and parents. Counselors will remain at La Rosa throughout the end of the school year. A memorial service will be held on Saturday, June 19, 2010, at 11 a.m., at Our Savior Lutheran Church, 512 Duarte Road, Arcadia.

1st Marine Division Band to Lead off Concert Series H o n o r i n g Te m p l e City’s 50th Anniversary, the Performing Arts Pavilion will set the stage for 12 concerts this summer beginning June 16. The 2010 concert series will be sure to please young and old alike with performances of musical hits that topped the charts throughout much of the City’s history. We’ll kick off the concert series on Wednesday, June 16 at Temple City Park, 9701 Las Tunas Drive with a special performance by the 1st Marine Division Band. Always a crowd favorite, the 1st Marine Division

Band will perform marches and old favorites, as well as jazz and patriotic tunes.

Be sure to bring a blanket or lawn chair and enjoy an all American patriotic

evening in the park. The concert will begin at 7 p.m.

The 12th annual Foothill Unity Center Golden Plate Awards Gala was held on Thursday night at Santa Anita Racetrack. The evening’s master of ceremonies was George Pennacchio, Emmy awardw inning entert a inment reporter for ABC7. Actor David Arquette, who is Chairman of the Feeding America Entertainment Council was the main event speaker at the event which supports Foothill Unity’s efforts to serve low income families throughout the San Gabriel Valley. The Feeding America entertainment council is comprised of a wide-ranging group of celebrities who seek to use their influence and media prowess to spread awareness of a growing hunger problem

in our own country. Other members include Ben Affleck, Rachel Ray, Sheryl Crow, Matt Damon, Lauran Dern, Tyler Perry and Shepard Fairey, to name but a few. “I cannot say enough about Feeding America,” says Arquette of the organization. “I donate my time every single week, and it’s the most fulfilling, fantastic thing I could do. With the current state of our economy and the growing need among adults, children and families, it is vital that we stand behind and unite with Feeding America’s cause.” This year ,the “Heart in Hand Humanitarian Awards” went to Patti Patton- Bader and Jeff Bader,
