By John Stephens

Candidates converged on Arcadia’s historic Woman’s Club Tuesday evening for a city council candidates’ forum sponsored by the Arcadia Chamber of Commerce, Association of Realtors and Arcadia Weekly. Masterfully moderated by Scott Hettrick, publisher of the popular blog “Arcadia’s Best,” the forum showcased a wide variety of issues and approaches by a diverse assortment of six candidates vying for three seats on the Arcadia City Council. The forum was the second-to-last chance for interested citizens to see all the candidates together in one room ahead of the April 13 election. Wong resigned a few weeks ago amid public pressure regarding her perjury and bribery charges that could cost her 10 years of incarceration. The toilet, naturally overflowed. This act of vandalism is just one of the latest in a series of malcontent ultraconservative “TEA Party” attacks, fostering what appears to be a growing trend or unorthodox and even hateful and illegal acts meant to further their extremist goals, whatever they may be exactly. Destruction of property is a violent act and

how this can further the “cause” of the Republicans is unknown. Democrats who voted in favor of health care reform have faced serious threats, from phone calls to actual brick throwing, as well as breaking glass of democratic offices of some senators and congressmen. Schiff called the aggressive act in his office last week “silly”. Schiff said he is conc e r ne d a b ou t t he n a t ionwide tone t hat has evolved since the passage of the Health Care Reform bill.
