Transdisciplinary Skills

Learner Profile:

Communication skills: The children will construct poems, stories and visuals for a range of purposes and audiences communicating information and ideas using different mediums including technology.

Communicator: Students will explore their own creativity to communicate effectively.

Risk-taker: Students will develop confidence in communicating their feelings and opinions in a variety of ways.

Thinking skills: The children will learn to comprehend and analyse the reasons behind an artist’s specific choice of expression and how it has helped in communicating ideas effectively to others.

PYP Attitudes Independence: Thinking and acting independently, making their own judgments based on reasoned argument, and being able to defend their judgments.

Confidence: Feeling confident in their ability as learners, having the courage to take risks, applying what they have learned, making appropriate decisions and choices.

Creativity: Being creative and imaginative in their thinking and in their approach to problems and dilemmas.

Teaching targets to be covered in each subject area identified by the IB Primary Years Programme.

These will be taught within the unit of inquiry as well as stand-alone to ensure clear conceptual understanding and application.

Suggested activities to pursue at home:

     

Talk to your child about different artists and their work.

If possible, visit local Art Galleries.

Share articles about different forms of art and encourage your child to talk about it.

Take your child to a theatrical presentation at the Arts Council (if possible).

Revise mathematical concepts and multiplication tables with your child.

Read everyday for 20 minutes.
