The First Word Dear Parents and Guardians, Active Learning

“Active Learning is an approach to teaching and learning which is an appropriate way for children to develop vital skills and knowledge. A positive attitude towards learning which engages and challenges children's thinking using . real life and imaginary situation”. (SEED 2007) As mentioned above active learning is an integral part of teaching at Jauhar KG-II through which we are taking our curriculum towards excellence. We use curriculum guidelines to ensure smooth transition in what children . learn and how they learn.

This emphasizes the importance of opportunities for children to learn through purposeful well planned play, which eventually enables our students to become successful learners, confident individuals responsible . citizens and effective contributors in society.

This news letter is a reflection of co and extracurricular activity based learning throughout the term as Jauhar KG-II has a brilliant track record of achievements not only in academics but in curricular and extracurricular activities as well.

News and Event 2018-19 Student Excellence An Orientation Session An orientation session for academic year 2018-19 was hosted at Jauhar KG II for the parents of the upcoming batch of Prenursery till Grade II .It featured tour BSS mission, value, academic, co-curricular and extra-curricular activities for our learners.

Inter SGO’s Junior Event Winning as a team is better than anything. Students of Grade I won the final match for “Dodge the ball " and achieved the First position.

The winners of JKG II celebrated their achievement joyously when they received their certificates and trophy from their headmistress Ms. Saima Naeem whereas the PE teacher, Mr. Ahmed Sabih received the letter of appreciation for his marvelous endeavor and upholding the spirit of the game throughout the tournament.

Inter-regional Dodge the Ball Tournament Players of Grade I showed excellent reflexes while dodging the ball and incredible accuracy at throwing it at their opponents .They earned First position in Inter-regional Dodge the ball Tournament and won the trophy of Junior Sports Grand Finale 2018-19.

Celebrating 71st Independence Day With the spirit of patriotism in the air, students celebrated 71st Independence Day by singing national songs, sharing remarkable efforts of our national heroes, talking about different games played in Pakistan.

The Independence Day cake was ceremoniously cut by School Head Mrs. Saima Naeem and the Early years Curriculum Coordinator Ms. Madiha Memon.

Defence Day Students of BSS Jauhar KG II celebrated Defence Day with great enthusiasm. They sang National songs, designed posters and performed various skits to pay tribute to our heroic soldiers and martyrs who sacrificed their lives for the sovereignty and prosperity of the nation.

News and Event 2018-19 Student Excellence Breakfast with Grandparents It is the perfect opportunity to spend time with grandparents we love so much! Beaconhouse Jauhar KG II arranged a “Breakfast with Grandparents" for Pre nursery students to promote Health and hygiene and highlight the importance of breakfast for children.

World Animal Day With reference to the World Animal Day, a Pet Day was organized for Grade I and II. The purpose of this activity was to inculcate the importance of pet and wild animals in our life. Students showed and expressed empathy and love towards their pet animals by sharing ways of taking care of animals and their needs after the gallery walk.

Global Dignity Day Global Dignity Day is celebrated around the world to make everyone realize that we all have rights and deserve respect.

A spirited celebration of Dignity Day was held at Beaconhouse Jauhar KG II . Students of KG presented beautiful cards to the support staff and sash wearing ceremony was commenced for the Dignity Ambassadors.

Literature Festival The festivity of “ Literature Festival” comprised of students performances on various stories and Urdu Adab story telling sessions. Students portrayed and presented their characters tremendously and rejoiced the festival with their family and friends.

Iqbal Day Celebrations Beaconhouse Jauhar KG II paid tribute to our great leader and Poet Dr Allama Iqbal. Young beaconites of Grade I and II sang his famous poetries, made posters, wrote biography and famous quotes while students of Nurserys and KGs learned moral lessons while watching animated poems written by Allama Iqbal for children such as” Pahar or Gulheri” and. “Shehad ki Makhi”in Learning Resource Centre.

News and Event 2018-19 Student Excellence Elections and Oath Taking Ceremony “ Leadership is not about the next election, it's about the next generation”.

To ensure accuracy, e-voting was executed to elect class representative as a "Dignity Ambassador" for the month of October-November 2018 from Grade I and II. The elected dignity ambassadors took oath to fulfill their duties.

Sash Wearing Ceremony To promote leadership skills among students, house Captains with vice- captains and LLRC council members were awarded with Sashes.

Literacy Week Activities BSS Jauhar KG II celebrated International Literacy week which highlighted the importance of literacy. “s.a.t pin phonics activity" for Nursery , “word ball activity” for KGs , creating "e-dictionary" using tablets by Grade I was conducted in Learning Resource Centre. Grade II designed their own story using 2 create software and through an online link www.mystorybook.com.

Activities Inculcating 21st Century Skills There are variety of activities planned in daily lessons to inculcate 21st century skills in students. These skills include collaboration, communication, problem solving, critical thinking and creativity.

1 PTM was held to share the progress of our students with their parents to ensure all-encompassing development of our treasured youth.

Safety Comes First!

Evacuation safety drills and other precautionary measures are regular features that prepare students to respond quickly, calmly and safely in the event of an emergency.

Annual Sports Day 2018-19 “Physical fitness is not only one of the most important keys to a healthy body, it is the basis of dynamic and creative intellectual activity.”

An healthy sportsmanship was observed in the “Annual Sports day” staged by Beaconhouse School System Jauhar KG II on 8th December 2018 themed “Colours of Strength” where the little champs got the opportunity to showcase their hidden talents in the spectacular opening that proceeded with eye catching sporting events for instance yoga, aerobics display, gymnastic, taekwondo and the track events.

End of Term Activities By the end of the term students of Pre Nursery, Nursery , KG, Grade I and Grade II enjoyed winter celebrations, Cultural Day, Elocution Contest and Sing fest respectively.

Parent Pointers Providing Homework Support Set a regular time each day for your child to do homework. That time should be free of distractions such as TV and phone calls.

Be sure your child has a place to do homework that is quiet and well lit. Make sure all the appropriate material such as paper and pencils are available.

Let your child know that homework is important and valuable. Consistently review your child's homework during homework time.

Reading is the key of learning; make sure your child reads lots of books.
