If so, the Country Land and Business Association (CLA) has an exciting opportunity for you to become a Regional Adviser / Surveyor in our South West Region , based at Manor Farm Stables, Biddestone, Chippenham, Wiltshire.
ABOUT THE ROLE
As a Regional Adviser / Surveyor, you will be at the heart of supporting CLA members —landowners, farmers, and rural businesses —through a period of transformation and opportunity. You’ll provide professional advice on a wide range of land and property issues, from infrastructure projects and compulsory purchase to planning, tenancies, renewables, and diversification.
This is a dynamic and varied role that combines technical expertise with strategic influence. You’ll work closely with our national policy team, engage with stakeholders, represent members’ interests, and contribute to shaping the future of rural Britain.
KEY RESPONSIBILITIES
• Member Advice: Deliver timely, accurate guidance on infrastructure, utilities, tenancies, planning, and more.
• Representation: Participate in forums, prepare consultation responses, and support CLA campaigns.
• Events & Shows: Lead seminars, attend clinics and shows, and engage with members across the region.
• Communications: Act as a media spokesperson, write articles and blogs, and support MP engagement.
• Committees: Support branch and regional committees, contribute to policy discussions, and brief members.
• General Duties: Collaborate with the regional team, support membership retention, and assist with office tasks.
• Training & CPD: Maintain professional standards through ongoing development.
• Product Knowledge: Stay informed on CLA policies and services to best support and promote member benefits.
WHAT WERE LOOKING FOR
We’re seeking a confident, knowledgeable, and proactive individual who can demonstrate:
• A degree -level education (MRICS and/or CAAV qualifications are beneficial).
• Strong professional skills in rural affairs, land use, infrastructure, and planning.
• Excellent interpersonal and communication skills, with the ability to engage stakeholders and represent members.
• A deep understanding of rural issues and CLA’s mission.
• IT literacy, ideally with experience using CRM systems like Microsoft Dynamics.
