A NEWSLETTER FROM THE BDBMC M A R C H

From the Executive Director: As the Business Development Board of Martin County (BDBMC) ends its second quarter, we continue to see increased project activity and stable unemployment rates. The BDBMC is currently working on 58 expansion, retention and recruitment projects, all of which would complement our existing businesses here in Martin County. Indiantown remains a hot bed of interest for companies looking at taking advantage of the Enterprise Zone benefits as well as the pool of qualified candidates in the agriculture and manufacturing industry. I look forward to announcing several new projects in Indiantown during the next few months. Martin County’s unemployment rate in February was 6.5%, slightly lower than the previous month and lower than the national average of 6.7%. The state of Florida added 33,400 jobs in February and the unemployment rate remained constant at 6.2 %. The State continues to outpace the national economy, staying one half-percentage point ahead of the U.S. unemployment rate. It is encouraging to see the number of companies in Florida and Martin County that have openings and are hiring for high wage, high quality jobs. The BDBMC remains in constant contact with our local business leaders and looks forward to assisting them on their future expansion plans. Thank you for your support of the BDBMC and feel free to contact me with any questions or comments at tim@bdbmc.org or contact the office at 772.221.1380.
