Jackie Ison, aged just 57 years, was a life long Bradford City Fan, and played for Bradford City Women's in the early 1990's.

Then she moved into the Club's Management Team and ultimately became Chair.

Much of the early foundations of our Club were put in place by Jackie, and she will always be remembered with affection and gratitude by our members. She made many friends at the Club, and remained a good friend to them all in the subsequent

On the playing side I am grateful to Steve for all the efforts he has made both in stabilising and rebuilding the playing squad, as well as his support in trying to attract some sponsorship for the Club as well.

When I first got involved in women’s football, Leeds where one of the top teams in the country and had the bragging rights over us for many a year, and at the same time I’ve taken plenty of verbal abuse from past managers of which some can’t be repeated. But I always give as good as I get. However as the season passed and City grew in strength, Leeds met their match in 2014 when City beat them in the County Cup final which was one of my fondest memories in football manage-

ment. However 5 years on things have changed yet again and both Leeds and City find themselves in the same league and if history is anything to go by I think we are all in for a great evening.

I have a lot of respect for Leeds, as many players that I have had the pleasure of coaching have either moved to Leeds or come from Leeds, and I genuinely hope it’s a good game and may the best team win on the night.

League Last Time Tables Out aaa Bradford City WFC fell at the first hurdle in the FAWNL Cup Determining Round thanks to a 1-0 defeat on the road to fellow Division 1 North side Liverpool Feds.

In searing heat on a heavy 3G pitch City started brightly, but the first significant action came on 15 minutes when City skipper Zoe Roberts conceded a corner which was easily dealt with by keeper Aimee Routledge.

After a much-needed drinks break after half-an-hour the home side had another chance, but the direct free kick from the edge of the box was easy for Routledge. She then launched a long kick up field for last Sunday’s hat-trick hero Falone Sumaili to chase, but she was closed down on the edge of the Liverpool box and the attack broke down.

With a couple of minutes to go until the break Liverpool piled on the pressure, but City’s back line defended stubbornly, with Routledge and Roberts both making last ditch clearances off the line in the midst of an oldfashioned goalmouth scramble.

Manager Steve Winterburn brought on Ellie Edwards to replace Kate Donnan at the break, but only a couple of minutes later the decisive moment 12

came. Jen Rogers picked up a through ball that split the City defence, and was able to chip the ball over Routledge into the City net to put Liverpool ahead.

City dug deep and went close just before the hour mark when Ellie Prothero and Megan Maxted combined well on the left to force a corner. Roberts saw her cross tipped onto the bar, but Sophie Parrish was unable to put home the rebound and headed just wide of the far post.

With 20 minutes to go there was a lengthy stoppage as Liverpool keeper Deanne Tomkins rushed out to challenge Sumaili on the edge of the box.
