INTENT

Interior design is a basic human need. It is a fundamental right. Interior design has the distinguished ability to better the standard of living. It shapes the human experience. As a designer, I have the unique opportunity to improve quality of life. I aspire to create spaces that promote community and well-being. Practicing empathy, integrity, and a usercentered approach is vital to understanding the interaction between humans and their surroundings. My goal is to foster growth, connection, and prosperity among individuals and their communities.

TRANSITIONAL HOUSING AND RESOURCE CENTER FOR RECENTLY RELEASED PRISONERS

Cynefin is a haven for recently released prisoners. A sense of belonging and community stimulates positive emotions and actions. Support, connection, and calm promote healing and growth. A robust, nurturing environment allows recently released prisoners to successfully reintegrate into society.

Light significantly impacts the physical and psychological health of humans. Lack of natural light and bright, fluorescent lighting in prison is detrimental to one's health. Cynefin provides ample natural light and ambient lighting to promote healing and wellbeing. This improves one's circadian rhythm, mood and sleep

Cynefin is defined as habitat and conveys a sense of belonging and community. Habitat represents shelter, safety, and connection to people and place. All beings need a nurturing habitat to grow and thrive. A healing environment is integral to well-being. A positive surrounding is necessary to build and maintain healthy and joyous relationships with self and others. Cynefin is essential to all beings.

Sound is prioritized with the use of acoustic materiality. Acoustic ceiling baffles are incorporated in lounges and perforated wood is used in the library Carpet is applied in the library, lounges, and residential corridors to absorb sound and increase acoustical comfort

Mind is a driving force of this space. Greenery, neutral colors and wood add warmth and create a sense of calm Restorative spaces, such as the fitness and therapy rooms, grant users space and resources to heal.

Community is the foundation of Cynefin. Health, wellbeing, and social interaction are integral to this space Communal spaces allow users to engage and bond A library and advisors are provided to users to continue education and receive help with job and house searching

This renovation revitalized a dining room, office, living room, and cocktail room, resulting in a harmonious and inviting home Each space radiates warmth and character: the dining room exudes elegance and hospitality, the office merges functionality with aesthetics, the family room offers a cozy, relaxing retreat, and the cocktail room serves as a sophisticated entertaining space. Through a thoughtful selection of furniture, fixtures, materials, and custom millwork, a house transformed into a welcoming and refined home.

Struttura creates a comfortable and vibrant textured setting for all of the community to enjoy. Its food and restaurant promote an environment teeming with passion, respect, and diversity. Community, quality, and innovation are emphasized through collaboration and the combination of authentic, organic wine and soulful Italian food. Compassion and authenticity radiate in this space, creating a true, hospitable dining experience.

[ITALIAN] NEW ITALY

Nuova Italia transports patrons to an evening in Italy surrounded by friends and family. Its warm, welcoming environment creates a vibrant community, encourages diversity, and envelops the senses. Struttura strives to elevate the dining experience by incorporating the soul and character of Miami. Lively colors and a modern aesthetic combine to evoke a sense of joy and comfort.

DESIGN THROUGH FORM, SPACE, AND ORDER

FORM, SPACE, AND ORDER / WINTER 2020

Umbra explores a mixed-use space designed for Alexander McQueen which incorporates a gallery/exhibition space (lower level) and residential space (upper level). Following a linear organization, the exhibition is minimalistic in order to better showcase McQueen's luxurious, elaborate designs. The living space is simplistic and tranquil because although his designs were extravagant, McQueen himself was not.

Haven is an abstract model which examines point, line, and surface and their ability to create space. The interaction and relationship between these primary elements are explored through rectilinear and curvilinear form A set of abstract and ordered drawings are combined to create a model which resembles a gallery space
