The Fund was established in 1910 by the late Edward Stocks Massey from the town’s famous brewing family, who bequeathed money in his will for the benefit of Burnley residents to be spent on education, the advancement of science learning, music and other arts. The money has been invested and maintained by trustees over the years to release Higher Education Student Support Scholarships to help young people who:
• Are residents in the Borough of Burnley
• Have undertaken their further education at an institution within the Borough
• Have attained commendable levels of academic achievement in securing a place at a Higher Education Institution
Following annual interviews held by the committee and trustees, scholarships will be awarded tonight.
The Core Values represent the building blocks we use at Burnley College to create students who will excel, in their studies, naturally, but also in the wider world. The following learners have been nominated for their ability to go above and beyond, creating a community of respect, of ambition, of creativity, curiosity and collaboration. Congratulations.
