As sturdy and concrete as their lovely and comfy abode in Katipunan, Vince and Patricia Hizon’s marriage vow was kept intact for 8 long years because of their wonderful relationship with God. Two years ago, the couple became Born-Again Christians—which made their bond even stronger. For the duo, it is very crucial to make the right decisions, especially when dealing with family matters. Being both in the limelight, coupled with responsibilities and advocacies, it is a huge challenge for them to balance their career and family life.

or Vince Hizon, doing things in accordance with God’s will creates a lot of difference in his life. “I am a self-confessed go-getter. I know that I can do a lot of things, but I am not perfect. God is perfect; if we do things in His way, we will walk in the right direction.” A sharp outside shooter with a natural charisma for basketball fans, Vince played professional basketball for several years, both in the Philippines and in the U.S. He had played for Purefoods, Red Bull, and crowd favorite, Ginebra. He was given a moniker, Vince “The Prince” for being a heartthrob on the court. His achievements in his stellar 11-year basketball career include one PBL title, four PBA titles, one gold medal for the Southeast Asian Games, and one title for the USBL Championship. In 1997, he received the PBA Mythical Five award.

Vince admits that he had received the worst rumors that would usually involve his basketball skills and in some instances, malicious news linking him to women. When he looks back, he would just say that these have made him a better person, which translates into being a better husband and father to his family. Just like Vince, Patricia is a go-getter. Patricia started as a newscaster for the morning newsbreak on PTV 4, now NBN. After some time, she was asked to try sportscasting, until she found herself covering the Sydney Olympics, which became the stepping stone in her career. To date, she is the first and only female sports anchor in the country. Back in June 8, 2003, the first-ever wedding proposal was made at the now Smart Araneta Coliseum. Eight years after their marriage, Vince Hizon is enthusiastic to talk about the married life he has been meaningfully sharing with his wife.
