Alumni News Notes The 30s Edward Smith ‘39 just celebrated his 97th birthday and enjoys spending time with his family and reading the BC High Today alumni magazine cover to cover. He has 22 grandchildren/step-grandchildren and especially loves when the family gets together for weddings, pictured here with his grandaughter at her wedding.

The 40s Reverend Joe Bennett, SJ ‘45 recently celebrated 60 years in the priesthood and was honored at this year’s Jesuit Jubilee this past fall.

BC HIGH REUNION LUNCHEONS CLASS OF 1956: The class of 1956 gathered for a reunion lunch on December 1 and several members were able to join the festivities.

Commencement 2017 was a big day for the Flanagan family, a true BC High Legacy. Left to Right - Newman ‘47, John ‘07 (with son Deaglan), Ryan ‘17 and John ‘73.

The 50s Reverend David H. Gill, SJ, ‘52 recently celebrated the 50th anniversary of his ordination to the priesthood. Walter Colantuono ’56 lives in Windham, NH with his wife, Noreen, and three children. He worked for 36 years at Bell Labs and AT&T, retiring in January 1996. Mario Conway ’56 and his wife, Mary, have three daughters and two grandchildren. Craig Dolan ’56 enjoys boating out of Sippican Harbor in Marion, MA with his six grandsons, his “future pallbearers.” He spends four months every year in Vero Beach, FL. The Honorable James W. Dolan ’56 maintains that he is still waiting for his diploma, but in the meantime, had five children, and 10 grandchildren. Joan, his wife of more than 50 years, died in 2015. Jim was the Chief Justice at Dorchester District Court for over twenty-five years prior to his retirement. He is currently in practice at Dolan & Connolly in Dorchester. David A. Fay ’56 recently married Carolyn Black. Dave retired from the

Paul Galvani ’56 has been married for 50 years to his wife, Sheila. They have two daughters, Jill and Susan, and two grandchildren, Kate and Owen Finnerty. Paul is a retired lawyer from the Ropes and Gray Law Firm. He lives in Winchester and winters in Charleston, SC.

Neil Moynihan ’56 lives on Washington Avenue in Cambridge doing pro bono work. He has two grandchildren, Liam and Aldwin.

Medal of Honor recipient Tom Kelley ’56 graduated from Holy Cross, entered the US Navy, where he served 36 years as a Surface Warfare Officer and has served as Massachusetts Secretary of Veterans Services. Tom lives in Somerville with his wife, Joan, and they have three daughters, one son, and two grandsons. Tom published a joint memoir with his wife, “A Siren’s Call & Second Chances.” Allan McLean ’56 and his wife, Mary, have three sons and five grandsons. Allan spent seven years with the US Marine Corps. and is now an Insurance Broker. Allan was the Executive Director of the Marion to Bermuda sailboat race last year. He was a Board Member at Berklee College for 37 years. Jack McNealy ’56 is a retired US Army Colonel. He graduated from BC in 1960, then received a Master’s Degree from Indiana University. Jack organizes the class annual luncheon at

BC HIGH HALL OF FAME

Jim Reilly ’56 recently lost his wife, Charlotte. He has three children, James A. Reilly, Jr., John H. Reilly, and Allison V. Buckley. He has five grandchildren, Conor, Madison and Jessica Reilly, and Sam and Rowan Buckley. Joe Shields ’56 retired after 24 years of employment with the Federal Bureau of Investigation. He also worked for the Department of Justice for seven years doing background investigations. A survivor of prostate cancer, Joe spends three months in Colorado with his daughter and family. Joe is living in Walpole, MA. He has five children and 11 grandchildren. Dave Twomey ’56 Professor at the Carroll School of Management at Boston College. He is in his 49th year of teaching Business Law and Labor Law. He lives in Squantum, MA, has three children and one grandchild. Fritz Scheuren ‘58 retired from his position of Editor-in-Chief of the Statistical Journal of the International Association for Official Statistics.

BC High was honored to recognize Lt. Col. Brian Sullivan ‘63 (Ret) with The James Cotter ‘55 Courage Award. Brian served 23 years in the United States Army (Active, Guard, and Reserve). He is a Vietnam veteran and recipient of the Bronze Star, as well as the Massachusetts National Guard Medal of Valor for a life-saving action, at the risk of his own life. Brian’s second career was as a Federal Aviation Administration (FAA) Special Agent. He is active with veterans’ issues in the town of Plymouth and currently serves as a Vet to Vet counselor at the Brockton VA. Serving as a Senior Fellow with the American Leadership and Policy Foundation, Brian continues to work on aviation and nuclear security issues.
