WCTA Report - February/March 2022 - by Jerry Rousseau

We certainly didn’t expect 2021 to unfold the same way as 2020 but here we are and as of mid-February 2022, things have not yet returned to normal.

Our world began to inch forward with the first WCTA in-person event held since the February 2020 conference, the Pat Dooley Memorial Golf Tournament taking place on October 8th, 2021 at Mayfair Lakes in Richmond.

A couple months later and with Omicron spreading quickly throughout early winter, there was no choice but to cancel our annual conference and trade show for the second straight year. This, after a necessary venue change from Penticton to the River Rock due to serious highway infrastructure damage caused by the November flooding.

At the time of writing, show cancellation fallout is still being dealt with. Meanwhile, the Jan/ Feb Turf Line News ‘Conference Edition’ had to be completely re-jigged and remains a work in progress. Also meanwhile, Board and staff are focussing on preparations for the February 17 WOW webinar that will include our AGM.

Things are looking up and plans for a ginormous summer field day are in the works, maybe even more than one. Further WOW installments are being considered to ensure CEC/CEU point availability and of course it’s never too early to start planning for our 2023 conference and trade show. All sorts of details will be released in the coming weeks.

Thank you for your unwavering support over the past two years and crossed fingers that 2022 will end much better than it started!
