Dear Member, We now have the seventh named storm, TS Gonzalo, moving across the Atlantic as it makes its way towards the Caribbean.

The Barbados Chamber of Commerce and Industry is here to assist your business as the private sector focal point for the Department of Emergency Management.

The following general tips for business continuity planning are shared for your information:

Tidy your work area All employees must ensure work stations are clear and free from debris

De-energise equipment All computers and equipment should be unplugged to protect from any power surges

Protect your computers and documents Cover computers with plastic covers before leaving work

Leave safely All employees must leave work within the time issued by management in connection with the Department of Emergency Maangement

HAZARD SPECIFIC PROCEDURES STORM/HURRICANE WATCH ✓ Secure documentation ✓ Procure boxes, bags, tape and/or string ✓ Back-up files on computer STORM/HURRICANE WARNING ✓ Save data ✓ Turn off all Computer and Electrical Equipment (DO NOT UNPLUG NETWORK CABLES) ✓ Cover Computers & Printers with plastic bags. (TO BE PROVIDED) ✓ Remove All wall hangings from walls. ✓ Secure documentation ✓ Remove all loose stationery from workstations ✓ DO NOT LOCK OFFICES AFTER IMPACT ✓ The public ALL CLEAR is issued by your local Meteorological office or other Government Agency. ✓ Where there is a breakdown in telecommunications, staff should list to their local radio stations for announcements.

OFFICE CLOSURE ✓ Notification of office closure (internal and external) ✓ All Employees are required to immediately observe the Warning Procedures, and MUST contact/check with a Manager/Supervisor before leaving the office.

RESUMPTION OF WORK ✓ Resumption of work depends on the general safety of the building, availability of water, electricity and air condition and where restoration can be facilitated, AFTER THE ALL CLEAR. ✓ Notification regarding the resumption of work will be issued by Management. ✓ Call/Communication Trees will be used wherever possible to disseminate information regarding the resumption of work. ✓ Notices will be disseminated to the media, telecommunications lines are compromised
