OUR NEW GROUP PRINCIPAL UK Tatler Head of the Year twice

After almost 20 years of running the College, a period when the school rose from 147th in The Sunday Times UK rankings to 1st for A-levels, and from four Oxbridge places to 43, Richard Cairns has now become what The Good Schools Guide 2025 referred to as ‘Brighton’s overlord’, with the title of Principal.
He still has overall responsibility for Brighton College but also for all the other schools of the growing Brighton College family. The College’s Head Master is the equally wonderful Mr MarshallTaylor, who has been at Brighton College for 12 years.

Named The Sunday Times' Top Co-Educational School in the UK, Brighton College is a place where girls and boys thrive. The great honour that schools have is to help shape what our young people consider to be ‘normal’ – as they will take this with them into university, future careers and the rest of their lives.
At Brighton, it is just ‘normal’ that boys and girls have their lessons, their countless clubs and activities, their trips and their meals, and even lots of sport alongside one another. It is normal to have friends who are girls and to have friends who are boys. It is normal for boys to dance, for girls to play cricket, and for every individual, regardless of gender, to pursue the things they love and are passionate about, free from stereotypes and expectations. We think co-ed schools are kinder, gentler places. But, for us at Brighton, it is just ‘normal’!

Watch out for the latest Parent Power league table in The Sunday Times this December!

Named ‘UK Boarding School of the Year 2025’ by The Sunday Times, Brighton College is THE destination for boarding. In sight of the sea and the countryside, the school offers the most incredible boarding experience for girls and boys.
With no Saturday school, weekly boarding gives our pupils the best of both worlds – four nights at school and three nights at home. And for our full boarders, a fun-packed weekend awaits! Evening activities for all boarders ensure that pupils have a fun, happy and fulfilling time with their friends.

OUR COOL NEW BOARDING HOUSES, OPENING SOON.

THE SUNDAY TIMES

At Brighton College, we are proud of the many ways our school makes a positive difference to society.
£170k raised by pupils this year for charities
100+ community projects and charities supported
75,000+ community service hours each year

Making a difference
We regularly remind pupils they really can make a difference – that they have the tools, strengths and confidence to make society a better place. Once a year, the whole school go out into the local area to volunteer, and pupils also take part in community projects every week.
Social inclusion
As well as 23 scholarships for Ukrainian refugees, and our Opening Doors scholarship that gives 20 Sixth Form places each year to local teenagers who have faced a significant disadvantage, pupils are passionate about local causes, including befriending elderly people through our Time to Talk programme.
A part of society not apart from it

Education equality
The help and support that your pupils and staff give us is truly life-changing.”
MNDA EAST SUSSEX
Brighton College proudly partners with 12 local primary schools, providing lessons that include practical equipment and teacher resources; and pupils have led our Pelican Primary Club for the past decade, an initiative covering a wide-range of academic subjects.
Environment
Pupils lead the charge in our fight against climate change, and have inspired and managed many policies and activities. Our pupil Green Council drive the change they wish to see within the school, and girls and boys are tireless campaigners for local and global action on environmental initiatives.
All the World's a Stage

We stage a vast range of musical, dramatic and dance productions every year, from informal concerts to major performances.
