Exports as a growth strategy It is a fact that exports can make a significant contribution to the country's development. In order to accomplish this, first and foremost the country's GDP and the investments should increase significantly; however, the Greek government should have significant contribution to accomplish this with commercial and regulations that smoothens the operational and production processes for companies. The result will be an increase in production capacity with a dual recipient. More specifically, more companies will be able to undertake the production of a private label for American companies and on the other hand they will be able to increase the quantities of Greek products which will make the presence of Greek products possible in most US cities, making them well known. Thus, American consumers will trust and prefer them, which will lead the Greek economy to growth. While the pending course of action from the Greek Government, companies can follow a different strategic approach and target the U.S. FoodService sector as a way to educate the average American in new Greek culinary ethnic tastes. In any way, the US market is a promising and demanding country and exporting companies should perceive their penetration to the market with patience while being willing to invest in certain milestones as a way to acquire market intelligence and become successful. The American-Hellenic Chamber of Commerce, via its TradeUSA Department, can assist Greek companies – especially in the F&B sector – to become “market ready” with a series of offered services; while, new strategy and resources will be soon announced in the Greek Press and via the Chamber’s website.

TradeUSA’s expertise spans from FDA regulatory compliance, market and consumer trends to customized trade delegations and specialized educational seminars. The next three years, TradeUSA’s strategy will be further focused on making Greek companies “market ready” to penetrate the American Market. In its strategy, an educational platform, market specialized sessions and trade/networking events will be incorporated, aiming to enable Greek companies prepare a business strategy and action plan that fit their products/service portfolio to reach new markets in the American Food Industry.
