FACULTY'S ACHIEVEMENTS

LISTIN DIARIO FEATURE On May 28th, our BBA Director Dayanna Polanco was featured in ListĂ­n Diario, in which she talked about the benefits that our dual degree program offer both locally and internationally.

In this article our director focuses on the great benefit that BBA provide by obtaining dual degree in two different countries with savings of up to 50%. In addition, the BBA program extend opportunities for Optional Practical Training (OPT) for the students to gain experience in the business environment.

ACADEMIC EXCELLENCE

UNIBE ACADEMIC EXCELLENCE On June 27th, UNIBE celebrated Teacher’s Day by recognizing Academic Excellence in the different schools that form the University. In this celebration, we were selected as UNIBE’s School of the Year due to our outstanding participation during the previous year, 2018.

Also, one of our BBA professors, Victor Nicolás, was distinguished as Teacher for the year 2018-2019!

We thank all our professors for helping us achieve excellence through their constant dedication towards our students, creating leaders with global education!

On April 27th, our undergraduate dual degree business students celebrated their graduation day at Western Michigan University (WMU).

An special recognition to Ashley Almonte who graduated with the Sigma Beta Delta Honor Society distinction. Congrats to our WMU Cohort graduates. You guys made it!

RECOGNITION

On July 3rd, our students with GPA higher than 3.60 were induced in the Sigma Beta Delta ceremony to honor their superior records in BBA. Sigma Beta Delta Honor Society encourages and recognizes scholarship and accomplishment among students of business, management and administration, promoting aspirations toward personal and professional improvement.

On July 13th, our BBA students graduated from UNIBE, celebrating its XLVII ceremony. During this major achievement, our student Carla Carrante was our first graduate of our Sigma Beta Delta Honor Society with highest distinction, Summa Cum Laude!

On July 29th, our undergraduate dual degree business students celebrated their graduation day at Florida International University (FIU), in which students such as Gyvanna Gabriel, Osnel Lara, and Harley PeĂąa that are members of Sigma Belta Delta Honor Society graduated with their recognition.

MAGAZINE FEATURE On July 31st, our Director Dayanna Polanco was featured in the Factor de Exito magazine, where she talks about the importance of innovation in a global manner and how with the BBA Dual Degree Program we can help achieve this global transformation into a generation of value.

INNOVA CON BANESCO 2019 On August 5th, our BBA students, David Gozali and David Lorenzo, won the best innovative proposal for the improvement of a service in Banesco.

As part of their achievement, they travelled to Panama on August 26th, to experience a week full of lessons regarding agile methodology and innovative project management at Banesco’s headquarters!

FIU TRANSFER ACADEMIC

ACHIEVEMENT SCHOLARSHIP Our BBA student, Maria F. Tejeda was awarded the Transfer Academic Achievement Scholarship in FIU! During her time at FIU, she plans to major in International Business and Marketing, excel in academic activities and explore jobs in her field to further develop her professional career.

DONATIONS TO CENTRO EDUCATIVO ELIAS CABRAL

On August 17th, our BBA members visited the Centro Educativo ElĂ­as Cabral in the community of La Victoria, together with the Department of Community Service of UNIBE to donate the supplies that were collected during the weeks prior to the visit from students and faculty members of the university.

PROMOTION ACTIVITIES

WMU MASTERCLASS

During the month of May, Professor Karen Lacendorfer and students from Western Michigan University (WMU) visited UNIBE to provide a Masterclass for our BBA students and also give them the opportunity to ask any questions regarding the dual degree program that BBA has with WMU. Additionally, our students were able to learn from WMU’s students about their whole college experience in Michigan.

EXPERIENTIAL LEARNING CERVECERIA NACIONAL DOMINICANA On May 10th, our BBA director Dayanna Polanco and other UNIBE members had the opportunity of visiting the Cervecería Nacional Dominicana (CND) to learn about their special recruitment programs and how they can benefit our students in the future.

Additionally, they experienced the whole brewing process of the beers and enjoyed an exclusive tasting with CND’s BrewMaster!

GRUPO DIESCO

On May 11th, we received a guest speaker from Diesco, Mr. Troncoso, who serves as CFO and Head of Human Resources, Legal, Procurement and Technology. Diesco is a group of diversified businesses, with more than 50 years of experience, whose activities include packaging, investment services and real estate development. Mr. Troncoso’s experience in leading multicultural teams, including countries outside of the Dominican Republic, such as Puerto Rico and Panama, serves as a great learning tool for our students, allowing them to learn about the challenges that one might face when working internationally.

GAM CAPITAL

On June 5th, Gabriel Bisono and SaĂşl Acosta, fund manager and treasurer of Gam Capital Investment Fund Manager, visited our Principles of Macroeconomics class to speak with our students about savings, investments and the global capital markets. Gam Capital is one of the largest investment fund managers in the Dominican Republic with more than USD 50 millions in AUM. The firm current manages three funds with investments strategies ranging from fixed income and private equity in the energy, telecommunications, and infrastructure sectors.

On July 2nd, our students visited the Free Zone from San Pedro de Macoris as part of their Operations Management course with professor Wayne Johnson.

In this trip they were able to learn about the importance of knowing and understanding how operations must be managed in order to run a successful business and the risks it can incur if it is not managed properly.

VISIT TO NUMISMATIC MUSEUM AT THE CENTRAL BANK

On July 4th, our students from Principles of Macroeconomics visited the Numismatic Museum at the Central Bank with professors Alejandro Javier and Ervin Novas, where they learned about the collection of currency, including coins and paper money and its worldwide history.

On July 24th, our recently graduated student from the BBA-Western Michigan program prepared an Info Session about Western Michigan University (WMU), where she talked about her time in WMU and her overall experience abroad, answering any questions from our BBA students that are interested in the dual degree program with WMU.

DOWN2 BUSINESS CAMP 2019 From July 22nd to August 2nd, we had our summer camp in which high school students had the opportunity to learn from experts how organization work and function, through different games and dynamics.

They were also able to validate their skills in the areas of tourism, international business marketing and business administration.

9TH EDUCATIONAL INNOVATION EVENT On August 9th and 10th we had our UNIBE 9th Educational Innovation Event, which is an event that gives teachers the opportunity to exchange knowledge and experiences to strengthen themselves professionally and promotes good practices and resources that benefit the teaching-learning process.

During this event, UNIBE's professors were divided into three different groups and our BBA Director, Dayanna Polanco, had the privilege to host the group in which our Professor Ervin Novas presented a tool that can be used to enhance the learning process of the students in a more interactive way, called 'Mentimeter'.

On August 10th, our students visited the National Park Los Haitises as part of their Environmental Science course with Professor Sardis Medrano.

In this trip they were able to learn about the importance of the mangroves in the environment and they were also able to learn about endemic plants and animals of our island.
