INNOVA CON BANESCO 2019


A HUGE SHOUT OUT to our students David Gozali and David Lorenzo, winners of the contest “INNOVA con Banesco 2019”, who were given the

opportunity to do an internship in Banesco’s facilities in Panama. During their trip, they gained experience and knowledge regarding agile methodology and innovative project management.

ABOUT INNOVA CON BANESCO Banesco Banco Multiple, as part of its Corporate Social Responsability initiatives, held the contest “Innova con Banesco”, which was coordinated by its Innovation Center for Business Development and Entrepreneurship (CIDE). The competition consisted on the submission of different innovation proposals about business, marketing and advertising. Students from UNIBE participated in the contest and were evaluated by a panel of judges composed of collaborators from the bank and the university.

Proud to announce that our BBA student Lingny Ruiz is now an international student ambassador in Florida International University (FIU). She also belongs to the Sigma Beta Delta Business Honor Society and we are beyond thrilled for all the achievements that she has obtained during this program. Lingny is currently finishing her dual degree program, double majoring in International Business

and

Marketing.

She

likes

volunteering in her free time. She also enjoys baking, reading a good novel and hanging out with friends.

CONGRATULATIONS ALUMNI! On November 16th, our BBA students graduated from UNIBE, celebrating its XLVIII ceremony. During this major achievement, our student Osnel Lara received the highest distinction, Summa Cum Laude.

DONATIONS FOR RESIDENCIA BETHANIA


On December 6th, our faculty members, alongside some of our students that volunteered, visited “Residencia Bethania�, retirement home for seniors, to personally deliver the donations that were recollected during the previous weeks and spend time with the residents, who were all thrilled by the visit.

Residencia Bethania is a nursing home located in Los Minas. This nursing home provides care to more than 40 elderly women over the age of 65.

On October 22nd, we participated in Vive La Experiencia UNIBE, an event in which potential new students visit the University and the career of their choice to learn about the program. For this event, our graduates Edward Marte and Martín Santana, alongside our director Dayanna Polanco and Western Michigan University’s representative Scott Van Avery, contributed with their experiences and expertise to provide all the information regarding the program and attract new students.

From October 21st to October 23rd, we received the visit of Scott Van Avery from the Western Michigan University, where he provided different info sessions to our students, allowing our future WMU candidates obtain more information regarding the experience and advantages of studying abroad.

From November 18th to November 22nd, Director of Office of Global Initiatives from Florida International University (FIU), Jennifer Hilton, visited our BBA facilities to talk about the benefits you can obtain with our dual degree program, the opportunities at FIU and answer any questions regarding the transfer process.

UNIBE FIU-BBA FIRST ALUMNI COCKTAIL On November 21st, our BBA school, alongside with Florida International University (FIU), made the first annual cocktail for all our graduates, with the desire to continue creating strong ties with them and nourish the long relationship we have been able to maintain with Florida International University, seeking for ways to provide the very best to all of our students. It was a night to host a special celebration for our alumni as a perfect opportunity to renew friendships, relive college memories and network with fellow professionals.

VISIT TO CERVECERIA NACIONAL DOMINICANA


On September 30th, our Sigma Beta Delta Honor Society students had the opportunity to visit the Cerveceria Nacional Dominicana, where they learned from the hand of the master brewer, Felipe Felipe, all the process and different ingredients that makes Presidente beer unique. In addition, students learned the organizational culture of the company and its internship programs.

On October 21st, our students from Operations II class and Organization and Methods class visited the Cerveceria Nacional Dominicana, where they learned all the processes and ingredients that makes their products special. Thank you CND for welcoming our students into your facilities. It was truly an unforgettable experience and they are so honored to be able and share the real values for which CND stands for.

On October 10th, students from both Microeconomic class and Organization and Method class participated in the talk “Private Sector as an Engine of Growth in the Dominican Republic” held by the Executive Vicepresident of CONEP, Cesar Dargam, and a consultant of ANALYTICA, Jacqueline Mora.

During this session, they studied how the private sector has influenced the economic growth of the country and its effects on the GDP, taxes, social security, exportations and the unemployment rate.

On October 25th, our ‘Introduction to TICS’ students with their professor Jorge Ledesma participated in ClaroTec 2019, an unprecedented technological event where they had the opportunity to learn about the new trends and services that integrate with technology and how they can relate it to the business area.

On October 28th, students from the class ‘Managing Diversity’ together with their professor Bianca Lajara, welcomed the General Coordinator of Best Buddies RD, Maureen Tejeda, to talk about the importance of inclusion in our country. They also received the visit of Amelia Brea, Best Buddies collaborator, who shared her success story since she joined the organization and started working with Maureen.

On October 29th, we were honored to have the founder of Dev.f, Manuel Morato, as our special guest for the Entrepreneur class. Mr. Morato came to the Dominican Republic as a representative from the BID Formic forum, presenting the business opportunities that Dev.f offers in their modern school of technology.

The elective course “Managing Diversity� focuses on how companies can achieve inclusiveness and diversity through the different ways of administrative/business management.

On December 3rd, our students from this course visited the Granja Educativa Guanuma, distributor of Huevos del Sol, and learned about its methods of sustainability, which are obtained through the hiring and training of people from the Community of Guanuma in Monte Plata. In addition, they obtained knowledge about the company's history, its growth and contributions to Guanuma and the environment through renewable energy.

BUSINESS CAMP 2019 With the help of Professor Jaime Mota, our students prepared a business camp as part of their Business Management Course during December 3rd and December 4th. The freshmen worked throughout the whole semester for this business camp in which they were able to apply the lessons learned in class into real life experiences.

One of our goals in BBA is for our students to learn how to do business not only by theory, but also by putting into practice and gaining experience because we believe that experience is the perfect learning tool.
