That’s very much down to personal preference. Android devices tend to be cheaper but iPads and iPhones are market leaders because they are so easy to use. We also offer a Windows tablet/laptop hybrid that can run full versions of software such as Microsoft Office but with the flexibility of removing the keyboard to use as a tablet.

If you already own a device running one of the operating systems above then it may be easier to stick with a system that you are familiar with. For example, if you already own a phone that runs on Android such as the Samsung S4 then you’ll find a Android tablet a lot more familiar.

What features should I look for?

Depending on the size of your family your storage requirements will be different. This rough guide gives you an idea of how much space you might need:

Auto Defrost / Frost Free Avoid the need to defrost your fridge or freezer by choosing a frost free or auto defrost model that never ices up.

100 ltr Small family

250 ltr

A small family should be looking for between 100 – 250ltrs of combined Fridge Freezer space.

200 ltr Medium family

450 ltr

A medium sized family will probably need between 200 – 450ltrs of combined Fridge Freezer space.

400 ltr Large family

Manual Defrost Freezer should be turned off to defrost if frost reaches 1/4 to 1/2 inch thick.

A large family will require at least 400ltrs of combined Fridge Freezer space which can be found in our American Style fridge freezer on page 54.

A divan bed is the most popular and simple style of bed available and comes in lots of sizes, shapes and storage options. Essentially, a divan is an upholstered box base fitted with castors or glides for mobility with a mattress on top.

A divan is useful if you’re tight on space as most are available with drawers or lift-up storage, known as ottomans. Storage need not affect the comfort or quality of the bed.

Bedsteads

Bedsteads are slatted frames (as opposed to solid bases), usually made of metal or wood and comprised of a base, legs and headboard. They’re usually a more decorative option, with different colours, finishes and styles to choose from.

Traditional classics to more modern designs are available in a range of materials. Upholstered bedsteads, clad with leather or faux-leather, are an increasingly popular option.

Bunk Beds

Bunk beds, Midi beds and Triple Sleepers are a popular option for parents and children. They are fun as well as practical and space-saving.

Most bunks are flat pack self-assembly. Children under six years are not advised to use the top bunk. Also, don’t let children climb or bounce on the bed – it damages the mattress and could hurt the child. Check bed head and legs occasionally to make sure they’re secure.

Caring for your Bed/Mattress

Like most new products, a bed or mattress will last longer the better you look after it. Do not bend or roll your new mattress – it will permanently damage the spring unit and invalidate any warranties or guarantees. Let the mattress breathe. Like a new car, a new bed may initially have a ‘new’ smell about it. This will eventually disperse if well aired. Turn your mattress regularly.

Unless you have bought a non-turn (which has been specifically designed not be turned but must still be rotated), it is important that you turn your mattress from end to end and side to side every week for the first few months and thereafter about every three months. This will prolong the life-span of your mattress and minimise impression marks.
