Consider the context: 1) A rabbi (teacher) asks 2) disciples (students) 3) to learn (hear, think, respond).

We call that a school day!

But consider the dilemma the Lord proposes for us.

On the one hand, education could be entirely utilitarian, practical, useful. Indeed, one can approach learning as something to endure, overcome, conquer – a temporary season in which lessons, sports, and opportunities are task boxes to be checked in order to earn scholarships, build resumes, land jobs, obtain leisure, earn repute – “to gain the whole world.”

On the other hand, though, education could be an invitation into truth, goodness, and beauty – an endeavor of the soul that contemplates its Creator, in all His wisdom and majesty, grounding students in lessons beyond the lesson - ideas, beliefs, truths that remind us of the wonder of what being truly human means.

Math, but more than math; science, but more than science; language, but more than language; music, but more than music; sports, but more than sports; history, but more than history.

May the Lord continue to bless our endeavors to choose the latter, and continue using Bayshore Christian School, your prayer and support, for our good, and His glory.

With loving gratitude,

Bayshore grandmother, Mrs. Lisa Bishop, with the help of her employer, WoodmenLife gave our flagpole area a refresh! Some Bayshore boys even put in a little elbow grease to spruce up the place. This project was just in time. We held out annual “See You at the Pole” event shortly following.

Groundbreaking Ceremony

1615 days … from the purchase of the property to the groundbreaking ceremony

Colossians 1:10 So that you may live a life worthy of the Lord and please him in every way: bearing fruit in every good work, growing in the knowledge of God.

What a momentous occasion we celebrated on May 1, 2023 – the groundbreaking ceremony for the academic building for the Logic & Rhetoric School on our new campus. It was an event filled with joy, anticipation, and a true sense of accomplishment, bringing together representatives from various groups that played a vital role in making this dream a reality.

The journey towards this milestone has been a remarkable one, encompassing dedication, perseverance, and unwavering support from countless individuals. From the very beginning, the planning team – comprising members from our school, the school board, and our foundation – embarked on a mission to create an inspiring environment where our students can thrive.

The purchase of the property in November 2018, marked a significant step towards shaping the future of our institution. Little did we know that we would encounter numerous challenges along the way, testing our resolve and resilience. The COVID-19 pandemic brought about unprecedented uncertainty and disruptions, forcing us to adapt and find innovative solutions to ensure the continuity of our vision. Moreover, we faced an economic downturn, high inflation, and natural disasters that further complicated our path. But through it all, we remained steadfast, refusing to let adversity deter us from our mission.

The groundbreaking ceremony symbolized the culmination of years of hard work, unwavering patience, and the unwavering belief in our mission. We were honored to have representatives of those involved: Bayshore Christian School board and faculty, the Bayshore Christian School Foundation, Eastern Shore Presbyterian Church, Fulcrum Construction, and The First Bank. In addition to those who put shovels in the ground, the event was attended by others from those groups as well as parents,

students, donors, elected officials, and supporters from across the community. All were gathered together, united by a shared commitment to providing our students with the best possible education and nurturing their growth.

It is important to recognize and express our gratitude to both the professionals and volunteers who dedicated their time, expertise, and resources to bring this project from vision to reality. Their consistent support and tireless efforts have brought us to this momentous occasion, a true testament to the strength of our community. A special commendation is due to the extraordinary volunteer efforts of Jeff Blanchard and Nathan Upshaw who have managed the construction details from a paper plan to physical reality. Their expertise has been the glue holding together many pieces of the project.

As we move forward, the groundbreaking ceremony serves

as a reminder of the limitless possibilities that lie ahead. Our new academic building will become a hub of inspiration and creativity, fostering an environment where our students can explore, learn, and thrive. It will be a place where memories are made, friendships are forged, and dreams are nurtured.

We extend our heartfelt thanks to each and every one of you who has been a part of this incredible journey. Your support, whether through donations, volunteer work, or simply being a voice of encouragement, has played an invaluable role in shaping the future of our school.

We invite you to stay connected and be part of this transformative journey as we continue forward. Please continue to pray for the school overall and the project in particular. Pray for safety and progress. In all, pray that God would be glorified in our efforts! Together, we can have an eternal impact on the lives of our students and the communities they will serve.
