In San Jose’s small business community, Kaajal Tiwary is making a difference with her dog training business, D For Dogz. Since 2012, she has helped dogs and their owners build better relationships through training programs focused on behavior modification, fear management, and emotional well-being.
Kaajal’s journey into dog training started when she moved to California in 2010 and began volunteering at a local shelter. While fostering six pit bull puppies, she adopted one—Diesel—who later developed behavioral challenges due to a traumatic dog attack. Determined to help him, she immersed herself in studying dog behavior, nutrition, and anatomy. That passion led her to become a certified trainer and behavior specialist.

Beyond athletics and academics, San Jose State’s dedication to community service earned national recognition. The Spartans were named the winners of the 2023-24 Community Service Award by the National
Association of Collegiate Directors of Athletics (NACDA) and the Fiesta Bowl, a result of their incredible 20,000 hours of community outreach—the most in the conference for the third straight year.
