In just four years, Barack Obama rose from obscurity to the pinnacle of political power. He became a man who was both feared and loved by millions across the world. Obama was born in Hawaii in 1961, the son of Barack Obama Sr., a Kenyanborn student at the University of Hawaii, and his white wife, Ann Dunham of Kansas. (The couple later divorced).
