Staff While a new facility is on the way to replace Saskatchewan Hospital North Battleford, it appears the name will likely be retained. During a meeting of the
North Battleford, Sask.
board of the Prairie North Regional Health Authority Sept. 4, the board endorsed a motion expressing their support for retaining the name Saskatchewan Hospital North Battleford (SHNB) for the new mental health treatment centre.
Tuesday, September 15, 2015
The board members felt the name should be retained in recognition of SHNB’s historical place as a home and treatment centre for thousands of clients over the past 100 years. The new 188-bed Saskatchewan Hospital is being built
in conjunction with a new 96room correctional facility for male and female adult offenders. Work on site, adjacent to the current hospital, has begun and completion is expected by the spring of 2018.
Everybody Dance! An evening featuring the dances of India kicked off the 2015-16 season at the Dekker Centre for the Performing Arts in North Battleford Saturday. The audience was called upon to join in at the end of the show, and the first one up on the stage was North Battleford’s mayor, Ian Hamilton. Dances of India was organized by Dr. Mini Khurana of North Battleford. See Page 2 for more photos and watch for a story in the Thursday, Sept. 17 issue of the Regional Optimist. Photo by Jayne Foster
