HOW HAS THE INDUSTRY CHANGED SINCE YOU STARTED?
When M&M rst began, the only product we o ered our customers was mirrors. As M&M continued to grow, we expanded our products to shower doors and other heavy glass items. Customers would have their spaces measured, and glass cut, polished, and installed the same day. In 2022, we launched our Designer Frame Mirror Catalog for customers, and in 2024 we plan to roll out another product for our customers.
ARE THERE ANY UPCOMING PLANS YOU’D LIKE TO SHARE?
In 2021, M&M o cially dipped its toe into commercial glass. Members of our team participated in training and certi cation classes with some of the top commercial glass facilities in the country. Since then, we have dived further into commercial projects with a focus on glass storefronts and interior o ce design, including conference rooms and chic o ce layouts. We are honored to continue to build our growing portfolio of tness studios, salons, spas and boutique stores throughout south Louisiana.

Our customers make us excited about our work. We love being creative and making beautiful products for them to hang in their home and cherish for years. Framing isn’t something that people need, and that is why we are so grateful for every piece that we have the opportunity to frame and every piece of art that we sell.
HOW HAS THE INDUSTRY CHANGED SINCE YOU STARTED?
It is hard to frame things inexpensively anymore. Framing has evolved a great deal over the years so the cost has increased. Also, there are really interesting ways to frame a picture now. For instance, framing suppliers o er some really beautiful mouldings these days.

WHAT IS UNIQUE OR SPECIAL ABOUT YOUR COMPANY?
We are a one-stop shop. We can build the pool, outdoor structure, landscape, lighting, gutters, and fencing. We supervise the quality of the project by performing all of our work in-house.
HOW DID YOU START OUT IN THIS FIELD?
I started in the industry working for a custom pool builder. In the past 15 years I have been a laborer, pool cleaner, service technician, superintendent, project manager, salesman, estimator, COO, designer, and nally, now a CEO of my own company.
WHAT MAKES YOU PASSIONATE OR EXCITED ABOUT YOUR WORK?
Seeing my client’s initial excitement during the design phase and then exceeding those expectations. It’s the reason I do what I do. It is the best feeling at the end of the project seeing families spending time together and making memories in the space we helped create.

Now that my son Josh has moved to Florida, my daughters and I are now a 100% woman-owned business. We started this business to help people … it has been our motivation since day one. We are a company that values faith, family, honesty and integrity—not just the bottom line.

In this business, we have the opportunity to meet so many wonderful people. We consider ourselves experts at handling insurance claims so we like to educate and enlighten our customers. ARE THERE ANY UPCOMING PLANS YOU’D LIKE TO SHARE?
We now have our commercial license and are moving straight ahead into this sector. We also just purchased a property in Gonzales to build our own headquarters. We are from the area and want to continue to invest in our community. And we’re excited to expand our commercial work as well as our gutters and patio divisions. We have gone from replacing two roofs a week to 8-12. It’s rewarding to experience growth and expansion.

Our clients frequently come to us with complex problems that we need to solve through our designs. We try to approach those problems with simple solutions that we can execute at a very high level. What’s changed is the competition in our industry. ere are a lot of players who got into the game because we’ve had easy times for
a very long time .. but some have struggled or disappeared. I’ve been doing this for 10 years now and growth has been slow but steady. I’ve done that by maintaining strong relationships with customers and particularly with others in the industry.

We are working on a fun project in St. Gabriel that has a beautiful indoor-outdoor living space. One of my favorite parts of the project is the accordion-style door we used between the living room and the outdoor space … those doors open and your living space doubles. By incorporating Phantom Screens and putting in an additional outdoor air conditioning unit, the clients will be able to be outside year-round.
WHAT IS SPECIAL OR UNIQUE ABOUT YOUR COMPANY?
J&B Countertops is unique in that we’ve successfully fabricated and installed a wide range of residential detail (other than countertops) like staircases, wall applications, kitchen hoods and even furniture. We have the ability to execute these details due to our experience and newly acquired machinery that helps us keep up with the high-end residential market demands.

When we started, the industry was almost exclusively countertop and tub deck sales. Now there’s no limit to how we can use slab material. e dramatic patterns and colors that natural stone o ers, combined with the
details we can execute and the machinery we’ve invested in, allows us to fabricate anything you can dream of. ere’s literally no limit to what we can create now.

Having been an elementary teacher for 15 years, transitioning into the role of a realtor was driven by my passion to serve. I watched my husband build his commercial real estate business and always wanted to venture into the residential side. HOW HAS THE INDUSTRY CHANGED SINCE YOU STARTED?
We have moved from building starter homes 20 years ago to building multimillion-dollar custom homes today. We’ve also added commercial construction to our services. But the biggest change is probably the fact that many contractors today manage their projects from behind a desk … but that’s not me. I have the experience of actually doing the work from beginning to end. I started at 16 doing cleanup, landscaping, raising walls and framing houses. It was the best on-the-job training you could ask for, and it has shaped the way I do business and taught me how to create positive experiences for my clients.
