We hope you enjoy the pages that follow and look forward to welcoming you to our beautiful venue very soon.
The Forum is the largest theatre-style music and arts venue in the World Heritage City of Bath
Having opened its doors to the public as a cinema in 1934, this remarkable venue will celebrate its 90th birthday next May. Built by William Henry Watkins and E Morgan Willmott, it showcases a combination of Art Deco and Neo-Classical style.
From the building’s origins as a cinema, bringing joy to the masses of Bath during the Great Depression, to standing proud through the Second World War, from its time hosting a Dance School to being the concert hall it is today, The Forum is steeped in history. Merely walking through to the auditorium, it is still possible to see the now-restored cracks in the beautiful Art Deco floor from nearby air raids during the war. All areas of the venue, from the wall lighting to the paintwork and ornaments, are true to the original building.
Today, The Forum provides a luxurious audience experience within an elegant auditorium. However, it is The Forum’s ability to offer this unique history while showcasing the most internationally acclaimed musicians, celebrities and shows that really sets it apart from the crowd.
Bringing together the old and the new, The Forum is a vibrant and lively cultural hub, bringing to Bath the same joy and memorable experiences as the original cinema in 1934 while driving Bath’s cultural scene into the future.
At The Forum, we are dedicated to ensuring the venue and every member of the team continue to have the same positive impact on the community that we have since the venue’s origins. The building has served as a symbol for unity and community within Bath and this is something we remain passionate about today. Behind the glitz and glamour of our evening shows, there are a whole host of unseen events from meals for the homeless and young carers, support for foster families, playing host to a wealth of other organisations in the community and so much more.
From changing the lighting to be more energy efficient, to employing a fantastic team of technicians and maintenance staff to repair rather than replace and aiming to increase our recycling to almost ninety per cent, The Forum is committed to minimising its impact on the environment, pushing for a world in which we can continue to enjoy these fantastic shows.
Having welcomed to the stage worldleading, internationally acclaimed musicians, bands, comedians and shows for many years, we are pleased to announce that The Forum is looking forward to a year like never before!
Packed with the most exciting new talents, our most hilariously funny comedians and showcasing some of the world’s leading and most iconic musicians and bands, our schedule is full of the highest quality acts. From Katie Melua to Suede, Midge Ure to James, Sara Pascoe to the iconic ‘I’m Sorry I Haven’t a Clue,’ there are stars at every turn, the freshest talent and our most iconic household names.
While a current calendar of events can be seen on the back cover of this brochure, new shows are added daily so keep an eye on our website for more and be the first to purchase your tickets as soon as they are available.
