the youth can now make a difference.

The younger generation are now proving how easy and possible it is to make a difference to the world. An example of this is the Extinction Rebellion protests on climate change taking place all over the globe; most recently in the centre of London. The youth today have a lot more freedom and power of speech than the teens living through the 60s-90s. This is partly because of social media platforms allowing anyone of any age to make a comment or suggestion which could make a difference globally.

This is also because parenting has changed over the years allowing children to be more ‘free’ and opinionated. It’s also because our world is currently struggling as we approach the massive ongoing crisis of global warming. With this going on adults have come to the realisation that whatever happens will affect the younger generation more than themselves. So for the sake of their children and grandchildren the youth are now becoming more significant and important in the worlds decisions. A great example of this would be when MALALA YOUSAFZAI was just 15 she stood up and risked her own life by speaking publicly on the rights of girls and their education in Pakistan. As the majority of you may know Malala was then shot in the head days later by a Taliban. After Malala’s miraculous recovery, change started to happen which lead to her making a massive difference for girls and education all over the world.

Making a difference does not have to be a political or world changing event it could be the simplest of things such as producing art or becoming a performer. Creativity can be one of the most powerful languages. Change can be made from capturing one photograph or designing a product or even creating fashion.

The following images and articles are taken of teenagers living around Bath and North East Somerset. These beautiful teens aren’t making dramatic changes to the world but they are a small group of the youth making a difference whether that’s through creating or practising mindfulness and well being.

Yvean

Yvean is currently communicating through a visual art form. He’s using his talented photography skills to demonstrate change amongst the younger generation. He has recently made a photography project based around the theme of ‘Domestic’. Within this series he has captured his friends in their personal environments/bedrooms. Yvean specialises is documentary photography and portraiture. I know that Yvean will one day have a voice even powerful than some photographers in this generation. His photography is fresh, unique and DIFFERENT. This is his way of making that change; that difference.

Lizzie

Lizzie is an inspiring young woman who is constantly encouraging the people around her to become more ethical. She is making a difference to the youth by spreading the word of the worlds problems and debates.

This includes issues such as global warming, plastic consumption and equal rights

BELLA Bella is a 17-year-old Brazilian currently studying at Bath academy working towards achieving three A levels. Bella moved from Brazil when she was only 11 years old. She adapted to this change extremely well; she had to learn a whole new language and is currently using that change to her ability by studying Spanish in school. Bella is extremely passionate about fashion, art, culture and music. She’s constantly finding new music and creating outstanding artwork in which she expresses herself with. Bella is hoping to join an art foundation course in the future.

Naomi

Naomi is currently completing her A Levels and has a strong passion towards textiles and fashion. I believe she will one day be producing clothing globally and will be one of the biggest names in fashion. She brings a fresh approach to her design and differs from designers already on the market.

Spragg

William Spragg is interested in peculiar art and architecture.

Spragg is currently using his visual abilities to create beautiful and abstract pop art photography. He hopes to one day be creating art for companies or designing products/ buildings.

ISABELLE

Isabelle hopes to work within a specific area that her skills are highly needed in to make a difference. She is currently studying photography in college and specialises in documentray and street photography. She believes she will be making a change through her visual art and communication.

Olivia

Olivia is constantly making changes and helping others including her younger brother. She’s one of the most loving and kind people and always puts others before herself. Over the years liv has approached and overcome many difficult times. This is what has shaped her into the strong and empowering women she is today.

Faye

Faye is currently taking a media course at college. She specializes in producing music videos by using digital techniques and editing skills.

She has recently produced a beautiful music video for a young upcoming artist. One day faye hopes to be filming and editing music videos for the biggest names in the charts.

She will be creating a change by bringing fresh and new visual effects and producing methods.

Kieron

Kieron is currently taking two A Levels at college. Hes passionate about football, business and media marketing. Kieron is always making differences within his personal lifestyle. He has overcome problems which have led him to being the successful and hard working adult. Kieron hopes to one day be working within business and media marketing. Whether that’s creating his own business which will make a difference to himself and the world.

Katie

Katie is a 17-year-old life drawing enthusiast; she’s currently studying towards 3 A levels in fine art, phycology and graphics. After achieving these qualifications Katie hopes to join Bella on a foundation Art degree to build her portfolio and add to her current experience with art. Katie is originally from Chelsea in London and moved to Bath at the age of 7. This was a big change in Katie’s life; she had to adapt to this by moving schools and leaving friends behind. Katie has a great passion for Art and produces work based around the form of the human body. She is also interested in fashion and music; similarly, to Bella she uses this as a platform of expressing her own unique identity. Katie hopes to make a change to the world by using her visual arts and creating techniques to raise her opinion.

Jed

Jed is passionate and most interested in computer and online gaming software. Over the last twelve years he has been playing and learning about gaming and computers. One day he hopes to make a change by creating new and fresh gaming ideas.
