A Message from Our Director
Dear Residents:
The Depot Pond is a treasured centerpiece of downtown Batavia’s Riverwalk. It’s a place where families gather, photos are taken and our community spirit shines through in every season. Its charm is so timeless that it even graced the cover of the Saturday Evening Post in 1958, captured in a painting of local ice skaters on our beloved pond. As your Park District, we remain committed to caring for this landmark and preserving its beauty and vitality for generations to come.
We’ve partnered with Trotter & Associates to support the commitment to improve water quality, tackle invasive plant species and explore long-term solutions that restore both the function and beauty of the pond. This past fall, Eco Waterway Services completed the first round of water harvesting, with a second treatment planned for early spring. By removing invasive plants by the root system, we’re optimistic these repeated treatments will enhance the pond’s appearance in the coming seasons. We’re also laying the groundwork for infrastructure that will allow us to add a central fountain to increase water circulation and improve overall pond health.
Because Depot Pond belongs to all of us, we’ll soon be inviting residents to share their thoughts in a brief community survey. Your feedback will help guide future improvements as we continue caring for this cherished space together.
As we look ahead to the new year, we’re also excited to enhance how you connect with the Park District online. In January, we’re unveiling a new District website designed to be our most interactive, intuitive and innovative digital experience yet. The refreshed site will showcase all the recreation programs and events you know and love, alongside stunning photography and drone footage that bring our parks to life. You’ll also find smart new tools including a translation feature, an accessibility module and real-time program registration that makes signing up easier and faster than ever. An improved scheduling system will let you add your favorite activities directly to your personal calendar with a single click. Be sure to visit bataviaparks.org in the new year and explore everything your upgraded digital “home for fun” has to offer.
Your fun fuels our future!
All the best,
Allison Niemela, CPRP Executive Director

We’re kickstarting a community-wide effort to add bike racks to Batavia’s parks. Many parks still don’t have a place to safely park your wheels but we’re changing that, one rack at a time. With the new bike path ramp at the Peace Bridge and Clark Island’s Blackard Skate-n- Bike Park, there’s never been a better moment to showcase Batavia as a bike-friendly community!
We’re funding the first installations and raising money to keep the momentum going. Whether it’s $5 or $500, your support brings more racks and more riders into our parks. Help support this and other wonderful projects in Batavia. Donations can be mailed to Batavia Park District, 327 W. Wilson St., Batavia, IL 60510 C/O Batavia Parks Foundation, or scan the code to pay online.

We’re so confident you’ll enjoy your experience that we offer a Good Time Guarantee — if you’re not satisfied, we’ll give you a full refund.
Our Promise:
If you’re unhappy with the quality of instruction, your child’s ability to adjust, or the class skill level, request a refund before the third class and receive your full payment back.
Guidelines:
• Participant must attend the first two classes.
• Applies only to recreation programs (six or more classes taught by Park District staff).
• Does not apply to Quarry passes, special events, trips, New Horizons Preschool, camps, Kids’ Club, Klub Fun, or Youth/Adult Leagues.
• Submit a completed Good Time Guarantee form to the Recreation office before the third class. Forms are available in person only.
GENERAL INFORMATION Policies
NSF Checks
Checks returned for non-sufficient funds will be assessed a $20 service fee.
Program Refund Policy
Refunds will be considered for the following reasons:
• Class cancellations/Park District closings will result in a refund that will be applied to the household account as a credit towards future registrations. Upon request, refunds can also be paid by check or issued directly to a credit card if the request is made within 45 days of the original purchase. If you wish to apply this refund to another class, you must notify the Park District immediately.
• Refund requests received 5 business days before the first class will be accepted, less a service charge. If application is received less than 5 business days prior to start of program and it causes enrollment to fall below minimum and the spot cannot be filled; no refund will be given
• Refund requests received after the second meeting of the program will not receive a refund with the exception of a written medical excuse prior to completion of the program. A $5 service charge and program supply costs will be deducted from the amount of refund for each program, including medical reasons. Medical excuses will result in a pro-rated refund based upon the number of classes held prior to the date listed on the physician’s excuse. If program falls below the minimum required and the spot cannot be filled, no refund will be given.
• Applications for refunds for one-day programs (with the exception of Klub Fun) must be submitted 5 business days prior to class starting in order to receive a refund. Refunds will not be accepted after the class has ended.
• All refunds will be issued in the form of how payment was originally made when a refund application is approved before the class starts. Refunds to a credit card can only be issued within 45 days of the original purchase.
• All refunds applied for are subject to a $5 service charge. Instances where fees are $10 or less, the service charge will be based on 10%.
• Kids’ Club, Klub Fun, New Horizons and Camp SUN-Sational participants are subject to different terms of refund and withdrawal policy. See parents’ manuals or description for more information.
• Refunds will be applied to any outstanding balance owed on any programs or activities.
Inclement Weather Policy
For program and event updates or cancellations, please visit bataviaparks.org/rainout. The umpires or instructors decide the status of play after program starts. They will base their decisions on the field conditions and the likelihood of rain or thunder.
Out-of-District Fee Policy
Batavia Park District residents make a significant contribution to the operation of the Park District via property taxes. The Park District boundaries were established with the formation of the Park District in 1969. A map showing the boundaries is included in the brochure and available at the Park District Administrative Offices. Persons living outside the boundaries may be required to pay an additional fee to register for programs.
Electronic Signature Readers
Electronic signature readers eliminate the need for you to complete a paper form every time you register. The electronic reader captures your signature and confirms that you’ve agreed to the liability waiver and release of all claims.
Signatures will stay on file for 12 months, and after that time you will simply stop in or complete an online registration to sign the waiver again. If you are a regular phone-in customer, we will need to capture your signature in person in order for you to do subsequent registrations by phone. Online registration is not affected.
Program Cancellations
All programming, events and trips are subject to cancellation up until the time of the program, event or trip if patron and staff safety is a concern. Programs not meeting the minimum registration will be canceled, and refunds will be issued in the form of a check.
Cancellation decisions will be made one week in advance of the beginning of the program in most cases. All participants in canceled classes will be notified by Park District staff and will receive a full refund.
Class Transfers
If you wish to transfer to a different class, please contact Customer Relations to complete a Transfer Form during business hours. The form is also available at bataviaparks.org: Programs & Events > Registration Information > Forms.
Waiting List
Many of our classes have Registration limits due to facility space and staff limitations, therefore we cannot always guarantee you will be enrolled in the class of your choice. The Park District maintains waiting lists for classes that have reached their maximum Registration and encourages everyone to be placed on a waiting list. We will open additional classes whenever possible.
Instructors and leaders are not allowed to accept any registrations and are not allowed to give authorization for more people to register than the listed maximum. Your cooperation is appreciated. Registration deadlines have been set for each class. Please register prior to Registration deadline. We try to establish class status at least one week prior to starting dates. Please register at least one week prior to class unless designated otherwise.

GENERAL INFORMATION
Inclusion Services for Individuals with Disabilities
Batavia Park District works collaboratively with the Fox Valley Special Recreation Association (FVSRA) to provide reasonable modifications for individuals with disabilities who need assistance to participate successfully in programs.
We strive to foster independence and active participation in the least restrictive environment. In compliance with the Americans with Disabilities Act (ADA), modifications can vary from program to program and are determined following an intake assessment conducted by a team member from FVSRA.
Modifications can include one or more of the following:
• Activity modification
• Adaptive equipment
• Additional staff support
• Sign Language interpreters
• Staff training
• Support plans for behavior, diabetes, or seizure disorders
Requesting Inclusion Services
Inclusion services can be requested at the time of registration in person or by phone. If registering online, click the “Contact Us” option in the top menu bar or call the park district at 630-879-5235 to place your request.
Timeline for Services
For new participants, FVSRA aims to complete an intake assessment within one week of receiving your request for inclusion services. Once an individual has a completed intake on file, the average time to determine and coordinate modifications is two weeks. To provide the best customer service, we ask for at least two weeks’ notice before the start of the program to arrange modifications.
