Dear Residents:
Batavia Park District is dedicated to being your lifelong partner. For 56 years, we have been offering a welcoming space for growth, connection and recreation for our residents at every stage of life. Whether you’re exploring nature as a child, staying active as an adult or soaking up quality time with family, we’re here to support your journey. Our parks and programs are designed to enrich your quality of life, foster community and create lasting memories, ensuring that no matter where you are in life, you always have a place to belong.
You are invited to help us shape the future of Batavia. I am thrilled to announce that we are embarking on a Strategic Master Plan to guide us in creating a five-year roadmap for enhancing parks, programs and spaces to serve you and future generations. The District has hired a global leader in the master planning industry, Next Practice Partners, LLC, to guide us through this process. Their firm specializes in developing innovative and actionable plans.
The master planning process actively involves the community, gathering feedback through surveys, public forums, information booths at community events and stakeholder meetings to ensure that the priorities and concerns of our residents are reflected. A website has been crowdsourced and developed specifically for our master planning process. Check out the YourFunisOurBusiness.com website for project updates, meeting details, online surveys and key findings.
We invite you to celebrate the Batavia Depot Museum’s 50th birthday with us on Saturday, June 21, from 10 a.m. to noon at the Riverwalk. Bring the family to experience a variety of activities including live music, a scavenger hunt, inflatables, a history walk and a special exhibit titled “The Museum a Community Built: The Batavia Depot Museum Celebrates 50 Years.” This exhibit takes you on a journey through the museum’s rich history, from its origins as a railroad depot on the east side of the river to the iconic landmark it is today. Learn about the community’s incredible efforts to raise funds, move and restore the building that now serves as a cultural hub for Batavia. For more details, please turn to page 93.
As our community continues to evolve, we remain committed to adapting our offerings to meet the changing needs of our residents. Your voice is more important than ever. Your voice matters, and this is the perfect time to express your recreational needs and desires. Together, we will engage, inspire and elevate Batavia.
All the best,
Allison Niemela, CPRP Executive Director

Situated at 150 Houston St. across the street from the Batavia Riverwalk. This new community resource offers expanded programming for all ages, room rentals and an enrichment program for ages 3-5. Checks returned for non-sufficient funds will be assessed a $20 service fee.
Refunds will be considered for the following reasons:
• Class cancellations/Park District closings will result in a refund that will be applied to the household account as a credit towards future registrations. Upon request, refunds can also be paid by check or issued directly to a credit card if the request is made within 45 days of the original purchase. If you wish to apply this refund to another class, you must notify the Park District immediately.
• Refund requests received 5 business days before the first class will be accepted, less a service charge. If application is received less than 5 business days prior to start of program and it causes enrollment to fall below minimum and the spot cannot be filled; no refund will be given
• Refund requests received after the second meeting of the program will not receive a refund with the exception of a written medical excuse prior to completion of the program. A $5 service charge and program supply costs will be deducted from the amount of refund for each program, including medical reasons. Medical excuses will result in a pro-rated refund based upon the number of classes held prior to the date listed on the physician’s excuse. If program falls below the minimum required and the spot cannot be filled, no refund will be given.
• Applications for refunds for one-day programs (with the exception of Klub Fun) must be submitted 5 business days prior to class starting in order to receive a refund. Refunds will not be accepted after the class has ended.
• All refunds will be issued in the form of how payment was originally made when a refund application is approved before the class starts. Refunds to a credit card can only be issued within 45 days of the original purchase.
• All refunds applied for are subject to a $5 service charge. Instances where fees are $10 or less, the service charge will be based on 10%.
• Kids’ Club, Klub Fun, New Horizons and Camp SUN-sational participants are subject to different terms of refund and withdrawal policy. See parents’ manuals or description for more information.
• Refunds will be applied to any outstanding balance owed on any programs or activities.
For program and event updates or cancellations, please visit bataviaparks.org/rainout. The umpires or instructors decide the status of play after program starts. They will base their decisions on the field conditions and the likelihood of rain or thunder.
Batavia Park District residents make a significant contribution to the operation of the Park District via property taxes. The Park District boundaries were established with the formation of the Park District in 1969. A map showing the boundaries is included in the brochure and available at the Park District Administrative Offices. Persons living outside the boundaries may be required to pay an additional fee to register for programs.
Electronic signature readers eliminate the need for you to complete a paper form every time you register. The electronic reader captures your signature and confirms that you’ve agreed to the liability waiver and release of all claims.
Signatures will stay on file for 12 months, and after that time you will simply stop in or complete an online registration to sign the waiver again. If you are a regular phone-in customer, we will need to capture your signature in person in order for you to do subsequent registrations by phone. Online registration is not affected.
All programming, events and trips are subject to cancellation up until the time of the program, event or trip if patron and staff safety is a concern. Programs not meeting the minimum registration will be canceled, and refunds will be issued in the form of a check.
Cancellation decisions will be made one week in advance of the beginning of the program in most cases. All participants in canceled classes will be notified by Park District staff and will receive a full refund.
If you wish to transfer to a different class, please contact Customer Relations to complete a Transfer Form during business hours. The form is also available at bataviaparks.org: Programs & Events > Registration Information > Forms.
Many of our classes have Registration limits due to facility space and staff limitations, therefore we cannot always guarantee you will be enrolled in the class of your choice. The Park District maintains waiting lists for classes that have reached their maximum Registration and encourAges everyone to be placed on a waiting list. We will open additional classes whenever possible.
Instructors and leaders are not allowed to accept any registrations and are not allowed to give authorization for more people to register than the listed maximum. Your cooperation is appreciated. Registration deadlines have been set for each class. Please register prior to Registration deadline. We try to establish class status at least one week prior to starting dates. Please register at least one week prior to class unless designated otherwise.

The Batavia Park District staff makes every effort to prepare our Fun Guides as accurately as possible. We apologize for any errors and thank you for your patience and understanding when these situations arise.
The Batavia Park District is committed to providing a safe and enjoyable environment for participants in recreation programs. Participants are expected to adhere to fair and safe conduct guidelines. These guidelines apply to the safety of participants, the general public, employees and volunteers of the Batavia Park District.
A safe environment is where participants, staff, volunteers and the general public are free from physical harm. It is anticipated that some participants may require assistance to participate in the recreation program. This assistance may include accommodations, which will assist participants with unusual behaviors in order to maintain a safe environment for all.
The following actions are prohibited at Batavia Park District facilities and parks:
• Hitting, kicking or throwing objects.
• Inappropriate sexual touching.
• Creating a risk of contagion or illness, whether intentional or not.
• Bringing a weapon to a program or activity or acting in a manner which exposes the participant or others to danger.
• Extreme verbal abuse.
• Fighting.
• Any other unacceptable behavior including inappropriate dress.
• Any violation of these guidelines may result in: removal of the participant from the activity for a short period of time; removing the participant from the activity for the remainder of the day; suspending the participant for the next program meeting; and suspending the participant for the remainder of the program season.
Batavia Park District works collaboratively with the Fox Valley Special Recreation Association (FVSRA) to provide reasonable modifications for individuals with disabilities who need assistance to participate successfully in programs.
We strive to foster independence and active participation in the least restrictive environment. In compliance with the Americans with Disabilities Act (ADA), modifications can vary from program to program and are determined following an intake assessment conducted by a team member from FVSRA.
Modifications can include one or more of the following:
• Activity modification
• Adaptive equipment
• Additional staff support
• Sign Language interpreters
• Staff training
• Support plans for behavior, diabetes, or seizure disorders
Inclusion services can be requested at the time of registration in person or by phone. If registering online, click the “Contact Us” option in the top menu bar or call the park district at 630-879-5235 to place your request.
For new participants, FVSRA aims to complete an intake assessment within one week of receiving your request for inclusion services. Once an individual has a completed intake on file, the average time to determine and coordinate modifications is two weeks. To provide the best customer service, we ask for at least two weeks’ notice before the start of the program to arrange modifications.
At Batavia Park District, we are committed to providing the public with high quality recreation programs. Our residents are important to us and we feel they deserve quality at all times.
We are so confident that our recreation programs provide high quality and enjoyment that we are backing it with a policy called the “Good Time Guarantee.”
Our promise and policy is as follows:
The Batavia Park District will give you a full refund if requested by the beginning of the third class if you are unsatisfied with the quality of instruction, your child’s inability to adapt emotionally in the class, or the skill level is not appropriate for the participant.
• Participant must attend the first two classes of the program.
• Policy applies to recreation programs only. A recreation class is defined as a program where Park District personnel teach activities or skills over a period of six or more classes. This policy does not apply to Quarry passes, special events, trips, New Horizons Preschool, Day/ Sport Camps, Kids’ Club and Klub Fun and Youth/Adult Leagues.
• The “Good Time Guarantee” refund form must be filled out appropriately and received prior to the third class meeting. Forms are available at the Recreation offices. The park district will not fax, mail or e-mail copies. Upon receiving your completed form before the third class, we will process a full refund of your paid fees.
Batavia Park District’s Bark Park is the only free dog park in the area!
Grab your dog and head over to Bark Park at West Main Community park for some paws-itively fun playtime. Your furry friend will have a ball running off leash on three acres of fenced-in space. Or, explore the pavilion and agility equipment.
Bark Park is open from sunrise to sunset April 1 through the first measurable snowfall. No permit is required to enter the park.
