We were born and raised in the rain, on the cobbles, in the dust. Above all: cycling is the blood that courses through our veins, making it the most important side-issue in life for most of us. But cycling is not all shiny bling-bling images or filtered IG posts, picturing yourself climbing a mountain in slow-motion over a half-ass mellow soundtrack while the sun is going

down. We are the next ‘boyz from the hood’ racing team you’re looking for because we’ll take it far beyond the block to show our worth. In a time where most amateur cycling teams are trying to fit the same mold, we are determined to stand out, not because it might sell, but just because we are different.

To us, it’s about the sweat, the pain, the heroic drama, the smell of burnt rubber en route to great deceptions but even greater lessons. It’s as real as it gets.

Our mission is to empower people to get out of their comfort zone, pushing themselves to think and act outside the box. Cycling works as an inspirational source to create, to develop and to achieve. No matter who you are, where you come from, and what you’ve been through, we want to reach out to you and challenge you... on and off the bike.

Positive Mental Attitude

This year, too, we want to make an extra effort to help people struggling with a difficult mental situation. Mental health is of prime importance for general well-being and for a quality life. It is also an increasingly topical and a very close topic that can affect anyone. Depression, burn-outs, high work and social pressures, bullying, polarisation and violence are some of the upheavals that anyone, young or old, can face. Unfortunately, today it is still difficult for people to talk about this, let alone want to be helped, sometimes resulting in very profound consequences. We want to help raise awareness, take the subject out of the taboo and make it discussable. We want to try to inspire people who can no longer see the wood for the trees in a positive way. In that respect, cycling is the ideal escape, a challenge that brings people closer together and releases positive emotions. The team will support a yet-to-be-chosen project and help promote awareness around this broad and topical theme.

REBELLIOUS BY NATURE AND DETERMINED TO REWRITE THE RULES

The Bataia Brigade’s mission is to eliminate borders and promote diversity, representation and inclusiveness in the sport. Unlike your thirteen-in-a-dozen cycling club, the Bataia Brigade is all about experience and story telling. The sportive aspect is inherent to the riders but is not our main motivator. We want to encourage people to surpass themselves by inspiring them both on and off the bike. You don’t have to adapt to be part of of the cycling community.

We’re aware of today’s new societal challenges, and the way the outside world is changing. We are keen to defend the right causes through our sport and step forward against discrimination, hate and ignorance. We’re not avengers on bikes. We want to contribute to make cycling a uniting and binding power.

We aim at uniting on and off-line activities to reach a complete in teraction level in the real world because that’s where you want to be at the end of the day. Real life activities, events or workshops can be organized in joint ventures.

Remember, we are the people. We are permanently in touch with your target audience. We are part of them and interact with them in many different ways. On the performance side of things, the team will race a complete program within the elite amateur scene in Belgium. We will also start riders in pro-kermesses, international Granfondos, and gravel events - offering a broad window of opportunities and visibility to our potential sponsors. More than the results themselves, content generation and story-telling will be the real deal for all involved partners.

Bataia is a 360° retail experience based in Ghent & Oudenaarde, Belgium. We’re your one-stop cycling shop. We sell and service bikes and take great pride in our personal and professional approach.

We’ll get you dressed from head to toe with the latest hot gear while you sip an espresso watching the big guys battling it out on TV in our in-house coffee bar. We’ve been part of the local community for years, and aim to help it grow further by supporting people through out their cycling journey. Most of all, we aim to keep it simple and fun.
