Bastrop designer/builder Mark Korzeniewski has worked alongside architects and designers from California to Japan, where he was invited to give a workshop on building his unique elevated structures He has been a carpenter since he was eighteen but he is most sought after today for his artfully designed garden structures, tree houses, and backyard retreats

Landing in the Austin area in the 90s, it makes sense that Korzeniewski put down roots where both nature and creativity are prized and a treehouse for adults seems perfectly sensible. The Hobbit's Nest was started as a backyard getaway for birdwatching but evolved into a whimsical destination available for short-term rental in Paige The owners were so pleased with his work, they commissioned Korzeniewski to build the Elf's Aerie

Korzeniewski says his aesthetic is inspired by mountain homes and traditional Japanese architecture. "My eco/ethical inspiration is the 1960s consciousness movements " He often incorporates lumber from standing dead cedars and will bring in a mill when he's able to harvest on-site He does take on more traditional work but be prepared to have your project elevated by his artistic eye and aesthetic
