Plant This Now...

When it's this hot in Central Texas the last thing you want to be doing is pulling weeds. Take a much deserved break. But if you feel the need for dirt under your fingernails, here are some heat loving favorites to plant now.

June - All Month: Malabar Spinach, Okra, Southern Peas, Sweet Potatoes, Peanuts, Pumpkins, Tomatoes, Eggplants, Peppers.

Start seeds indoors for fall planting: Tomatoes, Eggplants, Peppers.

July - Early - Mid Month: Pumpkins, Sweet Potatoes, Okra

July - Mid - Late Month: Okra, Corn, Southern Peas, Winter Squash

All August: Tomatoes, Eggplants, Peppers.

Early to Mid August: Corn, Southern Peas, Winter Squash. Tomatoes, Eggplants, Peppers.

Mid to Late Month: Potatoes

All August: Cucumbers, Summer Squash
