Bastop Opera House

The historic opera house located at 711 Spring Street in downtown Bastrop was built in 1889 Over the last 130 years it reportedly has been a venue for traveling operas and drama companies, silent movies and early talkies, proms and recitals for local talent An impressive schedule of shows makes it an important part of Bastrop's tourist appeal When the Opera House is not presenting plays, musicals and dinner theaters, the company offers Academy Youth Acting Classes to insure Bastrop County has fresh talent for its theater scene for years to come Executive Director Lisa Holcomb has been personally involved with the Bastrop Opera House since 2004 and serves on the Board of Governors for the Theatre Network of Texas.
