WE DID YOU SAID

You said: It would be better if doctors review the results and call back to patients.

We did: We encourage patients to take responsibility for checking their results. Given the volume of tests conducted, it would take a significant amount of GP time to personally call every patient with their results, which is not feasible. However, if a result requires urgent attention, a clinician will contact the patient directly.

World Cancer Day, 4th February

World Cancer Day is held to raise awareness, to encourage prevention, and to improve treatment and research. This year, the theme is ‘while cancer touches millions of lives in countless ways, it doesn’t define who a person is’, and it focuses on person-centred care. And don’t forget, if you’ve been diagnosed with cancer, you can find help and support from Macmillan.

Bartlett Group Recommends…..

Ingredients

• 100g macaroni

• 1 teaspoon vegetable oil

• 1 pepper, any colour, deseeded and chopped

• 1 small courgette, grated

• 100g frozen peas (or sweetcorn)

• 4 eggs

• 2 tablespoons semiskimmed or 1%-fat milk

• 50g grated reduced-fat cheddar

• 2 teaspoons dried mixed herbs

• 1 pinch ground black pepper

• salad, to serve

and Veg Slices

Method

1. Cook the macaroni in boiling water for 10 to 12 minutes, until just tender. Rinse with cold water to cool it quickly, then drain thoroughly.

You could use cooked potatoes instead of pasta. You will need about 225g, chopped into chunks.

2. Heat the vegetable oil in a non-stick frying pan and stir-fry the pepper for 3 to 4 minutes. Remove from the heat and add the courgette and frozen peas or sweetcorn. Add the macaroni and mix well.

3. Beat the eggs and milk together, then stir in the reduced-fat cheese and dried herbs. Season with black pepper. Pour into the frying pan and cook over a low heat for 4 to 5 minutes, without stirring, to set the base. Meanwhile, preheat the grill to medium-high.

4. Put the frying pan under the grill and cook for 4 to 5 minutes until the surface has set and is golden brown. Serve hot, warm, or cold, cut into wedges – with some salad on the side.

For a packed lunch or picnic, use an insulated container and include a small ice pack to keep the pasta slices cool and fresh.

Our Commitment to Sustainability through the Green Impact for Health Toolkit

We are proud to have been part of the Green Impact for Health Toolkit, a framework designed to support healthcare organisations in adopting sustainable practices. The toolkit provides practical resources and guidance to help reduce the environmental impact of healthcare operations while maintaining highquality patient care.

Through our participation, we have taken significant steps to minimise waste, lower energy consumption, and embed sustainability into our day-to-day activities. This has included measures such as improving resource efficiency, and encouraging sustainable procurement practices.

As a result of our efforts, we have received a Pioneer Award, recognising our progress and commitment to creating a greener, more sustainable healthcare system.

By aligning with the principles of the Green Impact for Health Toolkit, we aim to play a small but vital role in addressing the challenges of climate change while continuing to prioritise the health and well-being of our patients and community.

Keeping healthy when the weather isn’t great can be tough. Here are some top tips for keeping healthy:

1 Boost Immunity – Eat vitamin-rich foods, stay hydrated, and get enough sleep.

2 Stay Active – Try indoor workouts or dress warmly for outdoor exercise.

3 Prevent Illness – Wash hands, use a humidifier, and consider a flu shot.

4 Heart Health – Eat less salt, exercise regularly, and manage stress.

5 Mental Well-being – Get sunlight, connect with loved ones, and practice mindfulness.

6️ Skin Care – Moisturize and wear sunscreen, even in winter!

7️ Health Check-in – Schedule any overdue doctor or dental visits.

January Patient Feedback:

We like to collect patient feedback, not just because we have to, but because it helps inform the choices we make when it comes to service provision. It also helps us work out what is working and what maybe could be improved. Patient feedback is very much valued and we have introduced a board at each of our sites where feedback can be left.

Here’s some of the feedback we received this month!

You said

Went as expected, arrived, logged in, waited a few minutes, called, test done, finished in a very efficient manner. Nobody could complain about this service. This is how it should be. Well done.

It would be better if doctors review the results and call back to patients.

We responded:

Thank you for your kind feedback! We're delighted to hear that your experience was smooth and efficient. Our team works hard to provide the best possible service, and it's great to know we met your expectations.

We encourage all patients to take responsibility for checking their own results, either online or by calling the practice. Given the volume of tests conducted, it would take a significant amount of GP time to personally call every patient with their results, which is not feasible. However, if a result requires urgent attention, a clinician will contact the patient directly.

Not always called on time for appointments. We do our best to keep to scheduled appointment times, but unfortunately, unforeseen circumstances within the surgery can sometimes cause delays. This is why we provide a two-hour window for appointments, allowing some flexibility while ensuring patients are seen as promptly as possible.

Improve the look of the waiting room and cracked chair seats would make it feel as if we the patients were important.

I found the Rapid Health system very easy to use and was impressed with how quickly I was able to arrange an appointment. I was then also impressed with how soon I am able to see a physio to help with my problem.

We operate within a set budget and always strive to maintain and improve our facilities where possible. We will review the condition of the chairs and look into any necessary repairs or replacements. Thank you for bringing this to our attention.

We're delighted to hear that you found the Rapid Health system easy to use and that you were able to arrange an appointment quickly. It's great to know you had a positive experience and are getting the care you need.
