This project explores how the analysis and design of multi-scale environmental conditions of building surfaces can evolve strategies to develop and augment conditions suitable for the growth of bryophytes. Micro-shading of exposed surfaces by carving or extruding are used to modify these conditions based on real-world environmental and geographical data sets, including orientation, solar radiation, surface temperature and water retention/channelling. Repeated cycles of analysis, modification and simulation lead to evolving tectonics at multiple scales to elicit the desired conditions and locations for growth. 70
